When he moved to Ferrari I think it wasn't the best time, they really struggled with the reg changes from 2009 and 2010 alonso carried the car. The rest, we all know of his heroics, but the team didn't really give him the equipment and the right people weren't in place too.I do agree that the mentality of the guiding hand is needed there which Michael installed and Vettel seems like a good fit for it, but I don't really blame Alonso for Ferrari's developmental failings those years. I do wish he had been more of a Schumacher type leader on the team but that's just Alonso.
I hope he does well with McLaren-honda.

If we look at the Sauber, which is a heavily modified 2014 car with the 2015 Ferrari engine, they are definitely doing well.
Manor need a new chassis for the 15' engine. Apparently they have it, so I would guess they introduce it in the european leg of the season, but they are going to be down on development so i don't expect them to move from the bottom.
That is also where Honda is said to bring their (almost - [barring any major issues]) final spec engine for the season, so they should be comfortably in the midfield.
