8dfc55 No.8759[Last 50 Posts]

The Crowning jewel of the F1 calender is taking place this weekend at one of the most demanding track in the world that is Monaco.

As Monaco has a no work Friday policy FP1 and FP2 will take place on a Thursday and the rest of schedule is as.

Last years top 3 Quali and Race were

N.Rosberg

L.Hamilton

D.Ricciardo

It is also the place where last year Jules Bianchi scored those vital points which have kept the current Manor/Maurissia team afloat.

#ForzaJules

8dfc55 No.8760

The only thing I am dreading is the inevitable Rosberg locking up being beaten to death again but after that unbearable storm passes, it should be nice.

There are a few taking points this weekend:

Can HAM break Nico's Monaco streak?

Can Torro Rosso continue to impress?

Will McLaren be able to score in a non engine dominant track?

Will there by any miracle drives like Jules's last year?

Yerp. Sky is going to be unbearable.

On Friday it is the Amber Lounge party.

Drivers confirmed for the Amber Lounge Fashion show are:

>Felipe Nasr

>Nico Hulkenberg

>Sergio Perez

>Daniil Kvyat

>Ericsson Marcus

>Roberto Merhi

>Will Stevens

It will be presented by Crofty and Susie Wolff

Jessica is so far the only WAG I have seen confirmed but the WAGs of the drivers confirmed will probably be involved. (Mehri, Marcus and Kvyat? don't have GF's though)

Pinkham will also take part.

None of us want to see anyone die (with the possible exception of hamilton) but if it meant getting much better tracks/better renditions of tracks, I think people would accept more danger.

To be honest I don't think anyone here has any issue with making the cars safer through stiffer chassis, or better barricades. It's when you slow the cars down or regulate a given kind of wing, or start chopping up the tracks that makes it a problem.

Also wolfgang von trips died for reasons completely unrelated to that layout of monza.

>One of Sergio Perez’s former team chiefs has slammed the Mexican driver, claiming that during his junior days the current Force India driver was an unprofessional slob.

>Peter Mucke (pictured above) is a well-known name in the formative classes of motor racing, having paved the road to F1 for stars including Sebastian Vettel, Robert Kubica and many others. In 2006, Mucke ran Perez – now with Force India – in Formula BMW.

>“Already then, Sergio showed that he has talent. That is beyond dispute,” he told Spox publication. “But his approach was totally unprofessional. I’ve rarely worked with a slob like him.”

>“His apartment in Berlin looked like a battlefield. He wrecked my rental car when he came home drunk from a party. He did everything you cannot do.”

picture unrelated, but also of Perez getting BTFO

>“Always in the background was his Mexican sponsor,” said Mucke, referring to Perez’s ongoing backing by Carlos Slim and Telmex. “Sergio didn’t need to worry that the money would end. He knew it would keep coming. That was the key.”

>“He never would have reached the top if not for that money. With his talent alone, he would have been out after that one year in BMW.”

wow, that's pretty insightful. That was some time ago and none of his current teams, I think, have criticized his attitude openly.

Perez can drive quick but he does come across as a bit of a moaner. And regarding cash, almost all drivers bring cash directly or indirectly to a team. But the mexican duo of Guttierez and Perez seem to have it going good for them with Slim behind them.

I'd personally say they are a lot more reason not to do with safety as to why a track would be changed (Hockenheimring for example) compared to affecting the car.

I'm not justifying changes to tracks but I can understand why it happens a lot of the time (at least more than I can understand changes to cars).

I meant that there are more non-safety based reasons for track layouts to be forced to change than there are non-safety based reasons for car design rules to be changed.

In other words I'm more accepting of them changing the layout of a track over them changing the rules governing the car as there are more reasons to change the track.

Main example being hockenheim with the changes in 2001. None of the changes were to do with safety. It was to do with money, fans and dealing with the local government. The FIA never told Hockenheim they had to update the track. Hockenheim themselves took the decision.

How do you know when someone with a bus pass (OAP for example) gets off?

All they do is walk on, swipe their bus pass and sit down. It's free for them. Same with kids who have bus passes.

Yeah you can count tickets but it only gives you some data.

Ideally buses would be like other modern forms of transport which actually count how many passengers come in and out of the doors using sensors but these are small services run by small operators.

>"The first thing is Jules is alive, that's the most important thing for us," said Bianchi's father Philippe, speaking to Canal+.

>"He's fighting with the weapons he has, but in neurological terms I'm not sure he is able to do much now."

>"Seeing him fighting gives a lot of hope to his loved ones, and it's important for us."

>"While there is life, there is hope, even though after a while you are hoping for a miracle. Every day is difficult."

>"The situation is stagnant. Jules' neurological progress is not what we would like it to be."

>"When we get up every morning we think of Jules' life, we think also of his death."

>"We have to think about death because we are in a situation where we know a lot of things can happen. It's terrible."

>"I think we all stopped living that day, the fifth of October. It's something you can never expect."

>"It's not what Jules wants, being in a hospital bed. It's not his life, it's not what we want either. But we have to keep hope."

I do wish Jules had died. This is really fucking painful

F1 is flush with cash, its just distributed poorly. That necessitate racing at shit tracks in countries that have no racing history, or even a culture that enjoys it.

When your business is in trouble, you don't fuck over your customer base in order to get a different and more wealthy one. You focus on the core product. F1's core product is the racing, so the answer is to look at what formula worked in the past and examine where you went astray.

Going to durkadurkaland for cash is a terrible idea because even if it did net massive amounts of money, its both not a sustainable fan base, and an eroding agent of existing support.

That is a worrying amount you have been affected if you couldn't tell that was sarcasm.

I think is is a poor question anyway. A decent argument could be made that countries like China, Russia or South Africa are essential because of the fact they are world superpower nations or in the case of Africa to have a sense of competing all over the world in every continent.

I want better tracks for those countries but I can semi-understand their inclusion as it currently is.

Britain, France, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Japan, Monaco and maybe the USA & Australia are nations that I think are essential to the calendar regardless of the track that they race on (less so Brazil) because of F1 history in those nations.

That is different to say Belgium and Canada where the only reason they should be on the calendar is because of Spa and Montreal. If they didn't have those tracks I would never consider those countries essential countries on the calendar (Sorry Zolder & Mont Tremblant)

Countries like Hungary, Mexico, Argentina, Spain are in the middle ground where the tracks nor history are really great enough to essentially guarantee them a spot.

There is no show on earth which justifies those prices.

Going back to the duel this is just me wondering how it would look like. I do not want this.

In sprint cycling the first lap or so is really slow and the riders are basically trying to psyche the other out into taking the lead because of drafting being so powerful.

I'm just wondering if that is how it would work in F1 with the drivers using the first lap to keep warm their tyres warm and psyche the other before gunning it to get to the line. Or would they just gun it from the start?

Drafting isn't as powerful in F1 but DRS is.

just got back from race supply run

I tried to go with the theme but Mumm was $54 a bottle and the only Martini thing they had (besides vermouth) was Asti which is only 7% alcohol

so it looks like I'm going to be enjoying the race with Kern's Nectar/Full Throttle mixed with the third-least expensive brand of champagne I could find (technically cava)

Cava is pretty much the first mass produced sparkling wine. France made champagne first, but the spanish made racks that rotated the bottles (essential to making it bubbly) to automate champagne production. Since EU protected origin exists, Spanish sparkling wines cannot be sold as champagne (only champagne region of france can produce champagne) so they are sold as Cava.

Prosecco is the same thing as Cava but shittier and made in Italy.
