Not like you'd be missing something if you didn't, but did you even play Skyrim?

I think he was more referring to how simple the Civil War questline was from a gameplay standpoint. From a lore standpoint, it was fairly interesting, but from a player's perspective, it was go here, hit this, go back, repeat. And you could never lose. The Civil War questline was originally supposed to be longer, you could lose sieges and defenses, and your actions affected the outcome. A lot of what was intended was brought in with the Civil War Overhaul, which pretty much everyone uses despite sometimes resulting in the questline breaking in such a way console commands and further modding don't do much in the way of fixing it.

 No.878

>>871

>go here, hit this, go back, repeat. And you could never lose

So every main and Faction quest in every game ever made on Gamebryo? Yeah, they didn't deliver what was promised, but it's not like it's anything new to Fallout games or any sort of RPGs in general to have every quest be die-and-reload-until-success. go here, hit this, go back, repeat. And you could never lose. If anything, it's surprising when you actually can affect things in negative ways outside of making black-and-white moral choices and choosing which factions to back.

Really, Mount and Blade is the only game I can think of which does it well with your party, sieges, castle defenses etc, and only by making it mechanically impossible for you to actually ever die when killed in battle.

skyrim took it to the other extreme. instead of one side being good and the other evil, both sides are equally unappealing.

I'm trying to figure out why a seasoned wastelander with years of navigating inhospitable lands is a Level 1 loser with no applicable skills? You'd think he'd have a pretty high Survival rating at least, but not even that.

>inb4 amnesia

One of the devs explicitly refutes amnesia. So what the fuck? Am I just to accept the Courier was a happy-go-lucky buffoon who stumbled through countless dangers?

Maybe I'm late to the party, but I'm here at Goodsprings, asking some girl to teach me how to survive in the desert, and it's pissing me off. At least the Lone Wanderer was a sheltered teenager; I can't come up with a good excuse for the Courier.

 No.952

To add to my post:

Your dialogue options suggest you have no clue who the NCR (despite living in New California for years) or Caesar's Legion even are, or basically anything about New Vegas or the surrounding land, despite it being your fucking job as a COURIER to be familiar with the area. How is that not amnesia, then? Is Josh Sawyer just a fucking faggot, that I shouldn't listen to?

I am getting more pissed off the more I think about this.

I still sided with them in the end, but I had to do some other faction gameplay to make up for how shit their quests were.

A psychopathic genocidal homosexual Legion Legate professor and crucifier was teaching a class on Caesar, known faggot

”Before the class begins, you must get on your knees and worship Caesar and accept that he is the most brilliant being the world has ever known, even greater than Jesus Christ!”

At this moment, a brave, patriotic, pro-NCR veteran ex-Ranger champion who had served 1500 tours of duty and understood the necessity of war and fully supported all military decision made by the NCR stood up and held up a .308.

”What is this, pinhead?”

The arrogant Legate smirked quite bloodthirstily and smugly replied “It's a pre-war ranged weapon, you filthy degenerate. The Legion prefers melee weaponry as it more easily brings out the warrior spirit.”

”Wrong. Though this weapon can fire bullets, it can also be used as a blunt instrument.”

The Legate was visibly shaken, and dropped his chalk and copy of The Gallic Wars by Julius Caesar. He stormed out of the room crying those Legion crocodile tears. The same tears liberals cry for the “dissolute” (who today live in such strength that most own firearms) when they jealously try to claw justly earned wealth from deserving tribes. There is no doubt that at this point our Legionnaire, Gaius Femmius Faggus, wished he had seen the light of democracy and become more than a professional Caesar groupie. He wished so much that he had a gun to shoot himself from embarrassment, but he himself had petitioned against them!

The students applauded and all registered with the NCR military that day and accepted Aaron Kimball as their president. An eagle named “Romanes Eunt Domus” flew into the room and perched atop the NCR Flag and shed a tear on the chalk. The pledge of allegiance was read several times, and Tandi Williams herself showed up and enacted a flat tax rate across the country.

The Legate lost his tenure and was crucified the next day. He died of the Legion plague AIDS and was tossed into the lake of fire for all etPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little profligate?

I’ll have you know I graduated top of my cohort in the Legion,

and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on the NCR, and I have over 300 confirmed kills.

I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top legionary in the entire Legion.

You are nothing to me but just another target.

I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before in this wasteland, mark my fucking words.

You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the vault terminal network? Think again, profligate. As we speak I am contacting my secret network

of frumentarii across the wasteland and your vault ID is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, profligate.

The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my lawn mower blade machete.

Not only am I extensively trained in melee combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of Caesar's legion and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the wasteland, you wastrel.

If only you could have known what Caesar's holy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue wastrel.

But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you mars damn degenerate.

I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it.

You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

The reason they are against technology (for the most part) is they can't make more of it especially Stimpacks and the like. Caesar doesn't want people to grow dependent on finite resources like the old world and oil

>The Legion is merely a band of well-organized raiders centered entirely around a single mortal man. It'll fall apart or at least decline rapidly once Caesar is dead. It doesn't have a future.

That's why they have to make Caesar immortal, which they have failed to do. Not literally immortal, but the seat of Caesar has to belong to a god or some higher power. Historically, isn't that how the question of "What right do you have to rule me?" gets answered? Because the current ruler is appointed by god, or is a god incarnate. The divine right, and all that.

It won't stop the infighting over the throne by those close enough to actually obtain it, but it will keep the plebs and the soldiers in line.

The man has a cult of personality, but the cult dies when the man dies. Make the role of Caesar into the seat of the cult, and it will live until those in power can no longer keep the faith - either by conquest or corruption.

 No.930

>>843

But Stimpacks can be mass produced, since they're not based on finite resources. You can literally make them out of Xander Root, Broc Flowers, and the one missing ingredient which the Legion lacked… knowledge.

Humanity that makes no technological progress, is a species circling the drain - just waiting for it's own extinction. The path of technological progress doesn't guarantee that humanity will survive, far from it - as the Great War proved, but it is the only possible means of escaping their inevitable fate.

And to build… you need resources. Both renewable, and non-renewable. Caesar couldn't have built his empire without resources. The steel which they used to forge their primitive weapons were mined by vast slave armies, and it is a non-renewable resource, unlike the Broc Flowers and Xander they could have been making stimpacks with. Eventually his mines will run out, and he'll have to expand - scavening bits of pre-war metal and taking over new territory - which will put him in conflict with his neighboring warlords. How is that any different, albeit on a slower and smaller scale, than the US and China fighting over Oil? As his nation grows, it will consume more resources. This is inescapable. The only choice is to consume your neighbors and their resources, or to atrophy and either rot internally - or risk being devoured by one of your neighbors who hasn't bothered to check their own consumption.

The Legion is a slow death at best, and blatant hypocrisy at worst.

FOMM or MO for NV?

MO has treated me pretty well for Skyrim, but it's sort of glitchy/cumbersome (still way better than NMM), so is FOMM actually any better?

 No.883

>>861

Whats wrong with older NMM? I use 52.1

I know people cant get the older ones anymore, but I'll happily upload it for others if they need it.

>I ripped it from another drive it was installed to so no, it wont have to be "installed" to work case any one was wondering.

FOMM was great back in the day, but I don't dig it so much now. It was only slightly more convent to use then self adding mods.

>Its been forever sense I used FOMM

 No.884

>>861

FOMM is still the best for both of the newer Fallout games (hence FallOut Mod Manager), as it fucks up the least with where it puts shit and can handle fuckhuge mods well. MO isn't horrible, but for fallout games FOMM is still superior.

>>883

NMM is okay for esp activation and AI toggling, but as for actually installing mods it sucks. The nexus servers are absolute shit and NMM handles inconsistent downloading about as well as a retard handles a chess game, and even on the best of days if the file you're trying to download is larger than a few dozen Mb it'll break it anyways. It also tends to not like activating esps/bsas/whathaveyou that are larger than a few Mb as well, but you'll probably never run into a mod that fuckhuge that isn't split into multiple esps anymore.

Disclaimer: I manually install and patch everything and only use NMM to activate esps, mess with load order, and toggle AI if I'm being lazy. I've never used MO outside of like a month in skyrim, and haven't used FOMM in over a year.

Knowing how badly Bethesda fucked up FO3, here are some predictions for FO4

>Nuka Cola caps replaced by bawls and Monster caps for sponsorship money, kids will love it, real life monster cans and bawls cans will have codes for in-game caps.

>No more boring 60's music, the OST for FO4 will contain exclusively kid's Bop versions of Slipknot and Linkin Park songs.

>Did you notice the Lesbian couple in the trailer? Everyone in FO4 is a lesbian. Boston is a very progressive city, you know.

>The main character is the original vault dweller's son, and the Courier's mother, and also Aradesh's third cousin. It makes sense if you don't think about it.

>Half the game's guns will be unlocked in a DLC pack, the other half will also be in a DLC pack, so will all the character models and the game's code respectively. But don't worry Bethesda will release a GOTY edition a year later with all the DLC and twice the bugs.

>Half of the game's resources are re-textured Skyrim sprites. In fact not even all of them are re-texured. Super mutants are just orcs with a lower poly-count, no one will notice.

>Instead of fixing bugs, Bethesda made them into 'Easter Eggs' and gave them trophies. Did your companion just moonwalk into the ground? Congratulations! You just found an Easter egg!

>This is all canon

Any more predictions?

Visually, sure. But visual themes aren't the same as story themes, and when it comes to story themes, 1&2 were pretty weak.

>>683

When it comes to the lack of more factions and the practical worship of the Brotherhood, I agree no question. When it comes to linearity, not so much. FO3 really wasn't that linear, by comparison. Quests are inheriently linear, from FO1 to FNV, from ESArena to Skyrim, quests are essentially: Go find/hit this, get/kill it, come back, get reward.

Unless you're referring to the story not having branching paths, which I can't really disagree with you on.

I would like to see Bethesda do something more New Vegas-esqe with the storyline, but as long as the story itself is good, I won't mind too much.

At our section of the Dam we got a naked guy with a power fist and some redhead, who proceeded to run around killing all the legionaries in the place, then take there clothes and throw them into his pockets. Then when everyone was dead he went over to the redhead and essentially ruptured her intestines with the power fist. How the hell it got so deep in there I'll never know. Anyways, after they finished fucking or whatever you can call anally power fisting someone on top of the corpses of 12 legionaries and a Brahmin, we went outside and found it was night time. Jenkins and I took some Cateye we found a while back, but the naked dude just sat there staring into space. I tried to ask him what was going on, apart from the fact that he was covered in shit and cum, but my CO started screaming at me to leave him alone.

12. Fucking. Hours.

That man did not move for 12 hours. We were told to stop the assault on Legions base and hold our EXACT positions until he was ready, which was weird, because they weren't attacking us either, then suddenly he starts jumping towards them like a frog or some shit. Fought Lanius by himself. Well, not really fought, he just kinda said "No" and the Legate just sorta fucked off back East.
