Lore Question Thread
From what i loosely understand starting this game from fallout 3 onward. Frank horrigan was a low iq footsoldier in the early enclave military with a bit of mental issues. At some point sifting through the masters mutant factory he gets hit with the FEV. And gets alot of tests done inluding a full blown darth vader style power armor cage settup..
Heres my question. I heard that the fev was originally created by the us government pre war, to create a new range of super human soldiers to combat the chinese.
If im not wrong on that and being that the enclave is technically all what remains of the usa.
Does that make frank horrigan, america's first and only true success with the fev virus and its origional objective?

Since this is sometime after the apocalypse and people are starting to rebuild society, (while I noticed the Mojave didn't get as bad as the Capital Wasteland) do people do shit like they do today but tattered and themed around a romanticized culture of the American 50s
FOMM or MO for NV?
MO has treated me pretty well for Skyrim, but it's sort of glitchy/cumbersome (still way better than NMM), so is FOMM actually any better?

Fallout 4 Predictions
Knowing how badly Bethesda fucked up FO3, here are some predictions for FO4
>Nuka Cola caps replaced by bawls and Monster caps for sponsorship money, kids will love it, real life monster cans and bawls cans will have codes for in-game caps.
>No more boring 60's music, the OST for FO4 will contain exclusively kid's Bop versions of Slipknot and Linkin Park songs.
>Did you notice the Lesbian couple in the trailer? Everyone in FO4 is a lesbian. Boston is a very progressive city, you know.
>The main character is the original vault dweller's son, and the Courier's mother, and also Aradesh's third cousin. It makes sense if you don't think about it.

At our section of the Dam we got a naked guy with a power fist and some redhead, who proceeded to run around killing all the legionaries in the place, then take there clothes and throw them into his pockets. Then when everyone was dead he went over to the redhead and essentially ruptured her intestines with the power fist. How the hell it got so deep in there I'll never know. Anyways, after they finished fucking or whatever you can call anally power fisting someone on top of the corpses of 12 legionaries and a Brahmin, we went outside and found it was night time. Jenkins and I took some Cateye we found a while back, but the naked dude just sat there staring into space. I tried to ask him what was going on, apart from the fact that he was covered in shit and cum, but my CO started screaming at me to leave him alone.

That man did not move for 12 hours. We were told to stop the assault on Legions base and hold our EXACT positions until he was ready, which was weird, because they weren't attacking us either, then suddenly he starts jumping towards them like a frog or some shit. Fought Lanius by himself. Well, not really fought, he just kinda said "No" and the Legate just sorta fucked off back East.

Was messing around in the GECK today for New Vegas and I made Thundersticks from Mad Max… Pretty fun weapon to play with. Anyone know 3d modeling so you can put a fission battery at the end of a spear so it will be like an exploding battery, just like the movie? I'll be putting this on the Nexus, will credit you with your Nexus account name of course. I have modding experience.
The weapon is finished all I need is the model.

I'm not the biggest Fallout lore guy, so bare with me.

Well here you go. The modder aims to bring the most apocalyiptic NV outcome to life.
Cities deserted, towns ruined, tunnelers stalking and destroying the wildlife, scavengers at every turn of the road - A hellhole.
Personally, i think the idea is extremely promising and i am going to soon jump into my first try of the mod, i suggest you do that too.

I think I've just witnessed the whole colour spectrum in a post-apocalyptic game.
Anyone want to discuss non-PC modding? Finding this board inspired me to finally get into savefile modding on the 360. I just played around with an old savefile and now I got pic related (you can see I forgot to add 10mm ammo though).
Now I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to give myself certain items. Right now all I can do is mess with my stats (everything is set to 100, and S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats are 10), change the condition of items that are in my inventory and give myself ammo, but the ammo has to be in my inventory as well. What I'd like to do now is give myself items like the Mysterious Stranger's .44 Magnum. It's supposed to be the most powerful weapon in the game, but obviously the player never gets access to it. It has something like 4500 DAM and it never breaks. So I want to see if I can insert that into my inventory. Does anybody know how to do something like that on Xbox?

Lately I've been playing around with the idea of running a Fallout tabletop game. But something that I feel like is necessary but I couldn't find: a good collection of musicIs there one out there? I'd like to have a large assortment of 50s songs to play in the background like one extended radio from the games.
Anyone here play tabletop Fallout? I GM a campaign weekly with a group of friends.
Jason Mical wrote a 2nd Edition and finished half of a 3rd Edition that had d20 elements. I am currently working on my own, "4th Edition", which aims to incorporate elements from Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and future installations (since the latest source documents stop at Fallout Tactics) into 2nd Edition.

I really enjoy playing games that allow me to roleplay as whatever character I want to be. The flexibility and open-ended-ness of the fallout games draws me in so much. The idea that if I want to, I can completely ignore the story missions and sink 50 hours into exclusively side quests without feeling like I've missed out on a huge portion of the game.
I guess what I'm really looking for are role playing games that are less linear. Sometimes I just want to do my own thing, you know? I want to feel like what I make of my character is my choice entirely, instead of feeling like I'm being forced down a long corridor of cover-based shooting segments so I can kill the bad guy and bang a hooker to celebrate.
I've searched for games like this, but a lot of the stuff I find tends to fall short of the immersion or enjoyment I derive from fallout titles. Regardless, I'm willing to give them all a shot, if any of you queers have any recommendations. The genre or setting doesn't mean anything to me, give me everything You've got.
Do you think that the Dart Gun would be a more balanced weapon if the darts didn't fly forever in a straight line? Like, putting them on a long-ish arc like the Fatman? It would make stealth a must in the use. Additionally, the gun wouldn't seem so over-powered since you would have to be very close to an enemy to effectively use it; Like a Deathclaw.
I bring this up because I built one, in real life, and yeah it was a pretty strong, straight and scary weapon, but after about 50 feet, it would bottom out.
FNV is better than F3 prove me wrong

How do you into an effective explosives build? I've always used Dynamite and Frags in a pinch and they work wonders even with low skill - I figure that high skill and perks would translate into amazing DPS but I've never made anything like it before.

How do you into an unarmed/melee character in Fallout? The "Ultimate Guide" said the way was to get your follower to tank for you, but I'm always the one who initiates combat so I always get the attention. What gives?
