What would be some good banner and CSS ideas? Since the board's been around for a while now, I might as well make it look decent.
I'll put in anything related to fanfics (any characters, shipping, a significant scene, scenery, etc). All banners must be under 500KB and have dimensions of 300x100 for it to show up properly.
Since this board's hardly used, I think I'm just going to accept whatever comes in (if anything). One banner per franchise, please. The board isn't meant to be limited to one specific thing.

So, I started writing on a fic set in a fandom I can't stand in an attempt to see if I could try and make anything I deem readable set in that universe.
Now, I've come up with some truly unique and interesting ideas that I think could be used in an original story instead. On the other hand, I know that some fandoms allow authors to publish and put their their fics up on Amazon for sale.
Anyone else experienced coming up with ideas and concepts that they've chosen to use in original stories instead?
Also, anyone have experience with selling fanfics through Amazon?
Which do you prefer? A fic that mostly sticks to the original plot of the original work, but spends a lot of time exploring the setting and characters that the original work did not?
Or a fic that does little to expand on characters or setting but greatly diverges from the original story?

Ff.net or AO3?
I'm working on a longfic centered on plot, mystery and fantasy themed but I don't know if I should publish on fanfiction.net or AO3.
Here is the deal: ff.net is just fine. The first place you think of when you want to publish something, and there is a little bit of everything. I've seen really good stories and complete garbage equally, but that's not the matter. The matter is that I kind of ``really need`` customization features that ff.net doesn't have as it just lets me publish my story, and that's all.
And there's where I feel I need ao3. From a technical pov, ao3's is vastly superior. However, its fucking userbase. It has a direct influx of tumblr/sjws I can't fucking deal with. I almost think of it as tumblr's official fanfiction archive at this rate. I don't want those retarded bitches to touch my work, holy shit. I want to fucking stay from all of those infectious focus as much as I can.
Ao3 calls me because of its customization features but I can't help thinking of it as a gigantic archive for tumblrinas to post their shipping pwp garbage instead of something with a little bit of more quality. I may be wrong and haven't browsed the archive enough, but all I can think when I think about ao3 is smut and I'm yet to see some good fanfic on there not centered on shipping. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I remember an Animaniacs fic where all the characters got transported to an alien world where the Marty Stu OC showed up and spouted non-stop pop-culture references. “Correct, Ensign Hotwheels. I see you've signed up for a historical holodeck program? Earth, mid 20th century?”
Hotwheels nodded.
“Indeed. Enjoy your time in there. I've always preferred the early 20th century myself. As you were!” And with that, Picard departed and allowed Brennan entrance to the Holodeck.
Brennan entered through the sliding doors, his confidence growing now that he was away from the Captain.
“Computer!” he dictated, “Load up program 'Martin Luthor King, Jr's Last Night In Memphis.'”
The setting of a decent but inexpensive motel room materialized around Hotwheels' robotic wheelchair. Sitting on a chair in the corner was a well dressed black man, his proud face buried in his hands.
“Oh Lord. Lordy Lordy Lord… Please grant me strength to see this through.” The black man's voice reverberated solemnly through the motel room, his words ringing with the practiced intonation of a southern preacher.
He looked up as he heard Brennan's voice squeak out across the room. “Computer. Turn off Adult Content Lock. Raise simulated lust to maximum levels.”
“Adult Content Lock Removed. Lust raised to maximum. Please exercise caution, Ensign Brennan.”
Brennan whirred his wheelchair around to face Dr. King, who rose to stand, towering above the chairbound young Starfleet officer. Dr. King's erection growing ever steadily, pushing outward against the fabric of his slacks and directly level with Brennan's head.
“In the name of our Lord, Who are you that troubles me today?” Martin Luthor Kings' voice rang out loud, but quavered in awkward discomfort as his hands tried to hide his large, and shamefully growing, erection.

Anyone here read the Immortality Syndrome Trilogy? It was pretty good.
The basic premise is that when one of the powerpuff girls dies, they can be brought back to life by gathering their ingredients and adding a dash of chemical X. Only bringing them back turns them into Omnicidal maniacs who want to end all life.
