Hey guys. I made the fapioh player built with unity, which is available in the Milovana forums.
I 100% agree that the player isn't perfect. But I only intended it as a small side project, and it just kind of blew up into adding functionality after functionality. And I had to stop at some point, which came several months ago.
One bug was pointed out to me yesterday. I only made the parser to parse out 3 digit card numbers in the card's file name. When I started making the player about a year and a half ago, I didn't expect the game to grow to have 1000 cards in a category.
Besides that, I've seen many complaints trying to address the issue of an illogical or tedious order of cards the random generator happens to stick you with. The cards are not made with any sort of game-play or game-flow in mind. It is all up to the user. This presents a problem for and software designer, because then will be as many desired play styles and demands for functionality as there are people who play the game.
So, one thing I did, before ceasing development, was I created a pre-constructed deck function. I couldn't possibly account for all the weird possibilities myself, so I made a way that other people could design stacks of cards in a more proper and hopefully more entertaining order. The hope was for some people could construct fun, logical stacks and share them with others. This was the only open-ended way I could think of to deal with the game-flow issue.
I suppose the good news is that now there seems to be other people out there creating their own players. When I started making mine, there was basically just random picture viewers, sometimes with a card type filter. So, hopefully anyone making a player today will develop something bigger and better than mine was versus the plain picture viewers!
Other than that, happy New Year everyone! And it's good to see Fapioh is still going strong!
