Washington DC had a conduit plow that picked up electricity in a trough between the tracks while downtown so wires would not obscure the view

yeah it's really fucked what happened to most of those tram/interurban lines, torn up or even abandoned thanks to the auto, oil (and to some extent rail freight) industries colluding with government
