2fbcce No.105

specifically, why not add
>>>/vg/ ?

4ce22d No.106

the owner abandoned it and besides I don't think /vg/ is meant for this site since every general can just have it's own board.

2fbcce No.107

>>106
Yea, but then we would just end up with a bunch of empty boards.
having /vg/ is better for slower paced conversations and finding new games with active communities.

Regular /v/ allows generals. As long as they do not clog the frontpage 24/7. That is, letting them not only hit the bump limit, but also the last pages and/or the 750 posts limit before creating a new one.

thus far it has worked. When there is lot of interest in a certain game, say monhun right now, they get lots of healthy generals which for the most part are not an echochamber or circlejerks. When people lose interest in the game, the general just dies and no one makes another one until the interest peaks again. This can happen the next day, sometime later that week or even later in time.

The problem with /vg/ is that generals that exists when interest doesn't inevitably end up being either of those. A circlejerk visited by the same regular posters all the fucking time which alienate new posters, or an echochamber where no one even posts anymore.

Not to mention the way half/v/'s rules regarding generals killed lots of new games' discussion. Animal Crossing was cut off any kind of hype it could have gotten and instead was forced as a general where little gems like a cat fucker were bred and born. Mario Golf didn't even stand a chance, since the /v/ threads were just about match making, but the mods deemed them generals. Without new threads in sight, no new people could gather to play. Yet MK8 threads enjoyed the "weekends only" amnesty for some reason.

If we get a "generals board" like in halfchan, that problem is bound to happen. Banning videogames from the videogame board is not a good idea, whatever you try to look at it

3c5fd5 No.131

Generals are fucking cancer and once established will continue until the end of time. I don't want to see the front page be the same threads over and over every single fucking day. That kind of garbage is why /vg/ was created.

a2dfa3 No.137

Why was /hgg/ removed from the list? What's wrong with that board?

f8aaff No.138

>>137
we rotate the boards every month. /hgg/ was up last month. there isn't very much room in the announcements, and html links take up a lot of characters.

252014 No.139

My question is why those two dumbass spinoff /v/ boards are in the recommended boards area.

>where little gems like a cat fucker were bred and born
I'll have you know I was a cat fucker long before /acg/. /acg/ didn't mold me into what I am, I simply found it and decided to use it as my toilet.

3f1876 No.203

There's also no /krotchy/ and I don't think there's a /vr/ either.

31c801 No.204

shamelessly advertising >>>/vgames/ as a fallback to video game discussion in case everything goes to shit, I repeat, this is not intended to divide boards, but it is available as an option in case moderators will abuse powers on your favourite video game board. I completely understand if you do not want to post or visit the board right now, since it's empty and a lot of people are happy with the board the browse. Treat this like a backup, you don't have to use it now, only to remember it's there.

I will only post this once in each video game board just to let people know it exists, don't use it right now as nothing major in moderation has happened in video game boards as far as I know.

This.

I've seen the same shit happen to a bunch of generals I browsed on halfchan. It's pretty depressing that what started off as just talking about games devolved into rampant popularity contests and autism.

Since both my group and board have been moving so slowly on halfchan, I've been using /v/ as a means to try and get more discussion going. /vg/ wouldn't work since it wouldn't move at all just like my group isn't right now and even with trying to promote my board there have been only two people who joined the Steam group since I started it.

I remember requesting my board on /metav/ sometime earlier last month but I have changed boards to something more 8chan friendly. I'd like to see >>>/ogc/ get more love and attention as it seems like there would be enough people here to get something going. If worst comes to worst I make an 8chan championship cup like the >>>/8cc/ board but with racecars.

ADD MINE PLS.

complete opposite of /svidya/

I think >>>/vg/ should be featured. Some people still use 8/vg/ simply because they are used to nothing but having a board full of generals.

Seconded. A permanent link to a generals board is needed because generals are one of the most popular threads to come out of /v/.

The two are closely linked. Some people hate generals, but a lot of people like them and there needs to be a quick way to find them.

>>>/vg/ should be added to the link list.

Generals belong on /v/, not /vg/.

82e076 No.1455

>>138

I'd like to request that >>>/you/ be able to get a spot on the rotation, it's a board for video content uploaders and streamers to promote themselves, seek critique and also for general youtube and stream discussion.

I've been making a few small posts on /v/ every now and then to get some traffic but think the board could do with some more exposure.

e31092 No.1457

>>1453

/v/ isn't getting any generals. I'd argue because the whole "culture" around generals was changed by the presence of /vg/.

I have other thoughts on this, but I might take those to meta. Basically, it would be cool if the /v/ catalog, and say the bottom of the first page, contained a few catalog links to other boards.

>/v/ isn't getting any generals

/v/ is getting all kinds of general

Usual ones are Fighting game general, SS13 general, FFXIV general, plus whatever smaller generals

Well I haven't paid much attention to /v/ as I was having a fuckload of exams stacked up this month, but I did notice that /metav/ has been abandoned somehow. I still posted there regardless.

I'm the guy that made /vm/ - "Vidya Modding" although I haven't been as active as I should, but I noticed a bit of drama from the whole steam thing where they were trying to sell mods, I wanted to ride the happening train and lure pissed off people in sharing the mods on the board instead, or at least come together as a community and share/create mods they like for vidya

I think mark or whoevers in charge now should re-add /vm/ back, not even shilling, I could give that board away to someone willing to take over because all I want is a vidya mod board, I actually want to see potential in people making mods on 8chan and have a place to discuss them, I want that dream to live on.

so many things thats been abandoned due to normies not caring about those good old games, not making mods for them anymore and such but instead focus on recent/newer games, supposedly skyrim or some other shit along those lines. which i'm not against making mods for them but hey, its mods general anything can be discussed.

hell, i'd say if the board was still alive, it could potentially create things like oblivion/morrowind Online Multiplayer mod (something that works properly) would probably exist under a few circumstances, and that game is comfy as fuck especially when you play it with friends.

Big mod projects made on 8chan, everyone could get together to add new models/textures or sharing scripts of the sort for a game mod project.

The Potential is high here, but that would require some form of collaboration/help, preferably by people that want these things to exist, not the mods I just listed, i'm referring to anything that anon can create or share.

More mods that are deemed offensive could be shared on /vm/, things that gets immediately banned on nexus or some other shitty mod site because of feelings.

I definitely think /vm/, which is focused on modding, deserves a spot for Recommended Vidya Boards.

I mean, if fucking vidya porn gets in, why the fuck not?
