You CANNOT spot reduce fat.

You cannot be this stupid.
Thighs are also a spot in the body.

c90949 No.56761

When you exercise to burn fat, energy is evenly pulled from fat stores all around the body. It doesn't matter if you do a million crunches, you're not going to isolate any specific fatty tissue store. That's not how it works. Will you work out and deposit more scar tissue on those muscles giving increased definition in that area? Certainly, but the only way to target specific fat pockets is through the miracle of liposuction.

f56a30 No.56762

>>56761
Which exactly is why losing weight won't target your thighs alone without also slimming down the waist. Which gets us back to actually following this conversation when we choose to butt in.

well good thing then I was talking about diet, not exercise, you turbofaggot

central obesity is in large part genetic, but also tends to be strongly affected by diet. and there is no boner-killer like central obesity. honestly as a women you are pretty much fine having fat anywhere, except in your face and around your gut. they tank your SMV like a downward beta gaze does to a man.

You called me stupid, but continued to act as though spot reducing fat, is possible. It's not. You're ill informed, and clearly know, nothing.
>>56774
Exercise, or calorie deficit, it doesn't matter. you cannot spot reduce fat.
Please, cite your sources for these grossly inaccurate claims. You are spewing typical broscience, and it's totally wrong.

For those sad about spot reduction not being physically possible, there are SOME ways to go around it

1-liposuction, implants etc.
2-taking hormones, phytoestrogens, or just having a healthy diet to improve your hormone production/uptake and thus give you a more appropriate (for your gender) body fat distribution
3-Building up muscle in one part of your body can be done, and while it won't reduce fat in that area to any great degree, it can give the illusion of that area being slightly smaller/more defined/slimmer (I'm talking about slight muscle, not bodybuilding here)

>to act as though spot reducing fat, is possible

No, I stated how it's not relevant to this continuous conversation, as the original point you were trying to refute stated, essentially:
"When fat is reduced, it is reduced from the abdomen".

However you took that to mean only abdomen. Possibly because you took that greentexted bait over there for face value.

Which, specifically, is why I called you stupid, because that damn well makes you.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Yes, some of those things would technically be, "spot reduction". To say those things don't work, would be ridiculous; but they aren't the "I'm going to do 300 sit ups, to get a 6 pack" or " my low fat, high carb diet will get rid of this arm fat" spot reduction I'm talking about.

>>56799
>for losing abdominal weight you massive faggot. >>56711
Am I missing something?

It seemed to me, that the conversation was going towards spot reduction being taken seriously, because it works. I made the argument that it DOESN'T; simple as.
If I took any sort of "bait" it's because the general misinformation in this thread, is gargantuan; and it's hard to tell the trolls, from the misinformed.

20. I wish I was an 8 or 11 though. I've been overweight since I was in middle school, so I don't exactly know which I'll look like when I lose more weight.

I'm #14 on that chart, but I'm completely flat chested. I consistently get mistaken for a 16 year old boy despite being 23 when I don't take care to pretty myself up and look feminine. That sort of crap gets to you after a while, so I tend not to leave the house when I'm not wearing a skirt.

603ff8 No.56872

>>56834
Not that person but counting calories does work. It's basic math. There are calculators online that can approximate the calories a person needs and if you eat below that approximation, you will lose weight over time. The reason people think it doesn't work is either because they're counting incorrectly or don't stick to their limit and give up before they can see any real results.

I've been on a low carb/high fat diet for 4.5 months and have lost 50lbs. I have another 60lbs to go before I'm at a normal BMI and the diet is difficult as hell some days but I feel great and won't be stopping any time soon. I'm a fat fuck and am taking fucking control of my shitty health.

Most low-fat products make up for the lack of taste by adding sugar or sugar-alcohols which negate any reported "healthiness" of low-fat foods. Full fat and low sugar is better than 97% fat free and full of maltitol/other shit. (Maltitol is the sugar alcohol that are in Haribo gummy bears and what makes people pee out their asses after eating them.)

As for spot reduction, your body gets rid of fat in the opposite order it put the fat on. If you got a belly and then fat thighs and then love handles, it will start with the love handles and go backwards. You can do these things >>56796 but you can't actually make your body burn specific areas first just because you want it to.

85673e No.56874

>>56872
in the regard to counting calories; there is a difference between losing weight and losing weight healthily.

603ff8 No.56878

>>56874
Obviously. It would take an idiot to think that eating 1200 calories of candy and soda is the same as eating 1200 calories of meat, vegetables, and fruit. They say not all calories are equal because the nutrients in different kinds of food are not equal. A person can eat 2000 calories of Doritos and Mountain Dew a day and die of malnutrition. Obviously calories are not the only thing that matters but it is a large part of the weight loss equation.

d341fe No.56879

The problem with calorie counting is it's damn near impossible to do with any real accuracy.

Most ways of calculating BMR are an EXTREMELY rough estimate to begin with. Then nutritional labels and online resources are inaccurate. They usually round to the nearest 5 or 10 calories. Then you have things like protein always being counted as 4 kcal per gram, but it's actually closer to 3.2 after adjusting for thermic effects. All carbohydrates are counted as 4 kcal per gram, in actuality they range from 0 to almost 5. There's relatively large fluctuations in the fat content of, say, a chicken breast or a walnut that can't easily be accounted for etc.

In the end, your estimates are probably going to be off by a few hundred calories at least.

603ff8 No.56880

>>56879
Ok, so assume everyone rounds everything. If you count 1200 calories a day, say 1600 max given rounding. Let's say a certain person needs 2000 calories a day to maintain their weight. That's at least a 400 calorie deficit a day. One pound of fat is estimated to be 3500 stored calories. In one week, assuming that person counted 1200 calories a day and was actually eating 1600, they would still lose 0.8lbs in a week just from diet.

It doesn't have to be perfect. It's that person trying, every day. Add in exercise and they could easily bump that loss up. Some people think everything needs to be perfect for it to be worth the effort and that's simply not true.

I take multivitamins and protein supplements just to make sure that even if my counts are off that I'm still getting enough vital nutrients to make up for possible inconsistencies.

Ya, no doubt it works well enough for people who want to lose or gain a large amount of weight. I just laugh when I see bodybuilding types weighing their food on a scale and writing down what they eat in an effort to adjust their body fat by single % points.

603ff8 No.56883

>>56882
I don't know enough about bodybuilding to comment on that really. Some of them seem to understand the mechanics of body fat percentages enough for that to work for them but it seems overly-obsessive to me. I do want a food scale so I can weigh veggies and meats instead of guessing like I have been but there comes a point where it becomes potentially mentally unhealthy.

242530 No.56943

agreed. that's why I advocate a high fat diet. it makes it easier to have a stable metabolism without having to overthink things, whereas most carb junkies find themselves running to the vending machine three times a day.

I don't really believe in nutritional science, but if you are getting 40% of your calories from sucrose, like the typical amerifat, you are doing it wrong. having some simple lifehacks to steer you away from that path is the single best thing you can do for your health. and yes, that does help in avoiding pre-diabetes and central obesity.

Also, did you know, if you go spotting for alien spaceships every night on foot for two hours, the aliens' camo reflective beams have the added side effect of atomizing fat cells in your body.

Because of this it's quite important to not forget the aliens when you count for your overall exercising regime with weight loss in mind. It's worth the effort, because it all works out in the end.

I don't know if you can consider just pregnancy itself to be a fetish. If its all about sex with prego girls, in that case it might be a fetish, but I'm still skeptical since pregnancy is one pretty much only of 3 goals in life, the others being "eat food" and "avoid dying to eat more food and cause more pregnancy".
