>>56615>>56607>>56754FGM, aka female circumcision, has four types.
Type 1 is clitoridectomy, clitoral hood removal, the most common practiced in countries that track what type of FGM they allow. May also involve visible clitoral removal.
Type 2 is excision, clitoris removal (the visible nub) labia minora damage, might include damage to labia majora. Much less common in countries that track type.
Type 3 is infibulation, which is clitoral removal, stitching, all the shit people think FGM involves when the issue is brought up. Actually fairly uncommon in countries that track the types that are used. Obviously individual countries may vary.
http://www.who.int/reproductivehealth/topics/fgm/overview/en/Male circumcision, or what some would call male genital mutilation is actually comparable to type 1 FGM/female circumcision.
A "perfect" circumcision of a male penis removes the foreskin, an important part of penile health, sexual function, and sexual pleasure.
An estimated 20,000 nerve endings are present in the foreskin and are lost with circumcision. Often, the frenulum, the most sensitive part of the penis, is damaged or lost from circumcision.
Foreskin also facilitates a "gliding" motion which allows for less lubrication and less abrasion to the glans (the tip). Foreskin also protects the tip via keeping it from drying out.
male circumcision preventing STDs is only supported by a flawed WHO study conducted in africa. Where they gave sex ed and condoms to the circumcised group, but did not do the same to the uncircumcised group.
UTIs and other bacterial infections are easily treated via non-surgical, and especially not pre-emptive, means. The likelihood of breast cancer is also much higher in women, but we're not giving infants masectomies.
As for hygiene, an infant's foreskin is fused to the glans and will natural separate over the first year. It requires a harmless and simple wipe, as opposed to an open wound that takes weeks to heal if circumcision is performed. As for hygiene later on, it's literally two seconds to retract, rinse/soap, and done. An unwashed penis is disgusting regardless of foreskin. (unless you're into that).
As for tradition. When has this been acceptable to do shit to kids without their consent?
As for aesthetics. Is it cool to pierce an infant girls ears?
As for "they won't remember it!" Is raping an unconscious person a-okay to you?
I think I've covered most of the common arguments.
