Is there a difference between the types of video games than men and women enjoy?

I see games like The Sims or Animal Crossing or puzzle games having large female followings. Do women prefer gameplay that's structured around things other than having to constantly kill kill kill like in any and all action/adventure games?

Or maybe it's not the gameplay rules, but rather the presentation of the game? Like RPGs for example are pretty much something like >90% male audience with the exception of the Pokemon franchise. Is it the cute characters and artwork that attracts more girls?

Or is there no real difference at all in tastes based on gender? Somehow I doubt it. Men and women have pretty different tastes in music, tv, and movies, so I don't see why games would suddenly be any different.

I feel it has more to do with differences in personality rather than gender.

Since men and women share many personality traits, then I guess by extension it could be gender based-but there are women and men out there that like games typically for the other sex.
So because of that, it can't reliably be based on gender regardless.

Killing things is men territory.

Raising things is women territory.

There are crossovers, but still distinct patterns.

A lot of us hate shooters. Otherwise not too much

ed81d0 No.57700

I don't mind violence but fast paced shooters aren't my thing. There's still a stigma around popular shooters that they're for teen boys and young men. Whether that's because girls enjoy them less often, or it's the stigma that discourages girls, is anyone's guess.

No.

Point n Click adventure games are also popular with the girl gamers I know.

It's hard to generalise this stuff. I know girls that love playing CoD or BF and FIFA then I know girls who are the kinda standard "girl gamers" that love playing all the cutesie stuff like Sims/Aminal Crossing whatever. I genuinely don't think it's anything to do with gender, I think it's just personal preference.

Thanks. Although that chart more or less just confirmed everything that I suspected through my own personal anecdotal evidence.

Really makes you wonder why radfem shills even want to infiltrate games. It has absolutely nothing to do with helping women; it's because gaming was the last bastion of artistic expression free of poisonous ideological brainwashing.

Basically the average woman thinks of gaming as no different than stuff like board games, and they prefer social/local multiplayer/puzzle games. Whereas the average man is more likely to be heavily immersed into a game as a form of escapism not unlike films or novels, and they prefer games with a narrative focus.

Well for one thing I have never, ever come across a female arcade enthusiast of the type that enjoys single-credit clearing scrolling shooters and such. I'm really not sure why.

i'm rather curious what the divide in comic books is myself.
not much other than pic related i could find.
appealing to a fringe minority in your consumer demographic, i'd imagine, is financial suicide.

i remember /tg/ was in some sjw shit, too. forgot what though

From my limited experience (aka what my friends play), there's no difference between genders. I get the over-arching idea that women don't like violence but in terms of people I actually know in person and myself, there's no difference.

I think the differences are purely social tbh and marketing reflects that because why wouldn't it?

Also
>Men and women have pretty different tastes in music, tv, and movies
I've personally seen absolutely no difference in this in terms of people my age and their gender.

I've seen a big difference. Women like games that reward them for the mundane and games that require very little skill to play.

They like simple melodies, big vibrations and soft pitch bends.

If it is outside of those realms, women will not touch it, en masse.

It might be because women have extremely low intellectual standards for themselves, or it might be that they're biologically incapable, whatever the conclusion is, it still points to women having terrible taste.

Have these women that you know been shown how much better real games are? If they have and still stick to whatever it is, you might just be friends with stupid people.

Does this ever work, though? Or maybe it has in the past, but I think feminists have finally crossed a line recently. Prior to gamergate I was an apolitical moron who thought feminism was a positive force. Now I browse /pol/ and have become a radicalized white nationalist and traditionalist. Never thought it would ever happen to me, but here I am. And I'm not the only one. Society to now feels like it's a powder keg just waiting to burst. The tension is palpable.

There are a couple of gaming patterns I have noticed across many female gamers. Nearly all like nurturing games (eg. sims, farmville, animal crossing) that involve care giving on some level. Even those I know that I would consider gamers play healers and other support roles.
I only know one female that plays DPS and likes FPS.

I used to play a lloott of the original Starcraft in high school but I just can't get into any blizzard games anymore, with their matchmaking shit. In WoW you might as well be playing with bots, and the best part in Starcraft was going into channels to meet and play together. And now in WoW you don't need a guild to progress, you don't need a server community who knows each other in which friendships are built friendships, and why even focus on progression with the treadmill they have going.

Sorry, meh rant.

I don't know about World of Warcraft, but in Starcraft 2, playing bots is easy after a while. The elite ai, despite having a variable of play styles, easily can be beaten by a competent player. The real players in ladders and matchmaking are unpredictable, and responsive. From the slightest move, expense, or macro, they'll predict how to counter you. It's splendid.
