doing a paper on Nollywood and Nigerian film in general. does anyone have any related recommedations or know of any influental films?
No.1365
About two years ago I started a paper on films directed by native Africans, made in that continent. I gave up after a month because I realised it's all overrated, and African directors and their films are pretty much "artificially-enhanced". I don't know why Afrocentrism is promoted in the west. And they push it hard in other domains too, like the unrealistic World history theory. I guess some do it because of guilt, and some for political reasons – but to what end, I really don't know.

Anyway, one of the best Egyptian films I've ever seen is: Doa al karawan

Following this logic any film directed by an European from South Africa can be categorized as "African". But no, I was originally referring to African natives. Egyptians are not natives, they are mixed. It's about ethnicity, which implies race + the old traditions and mentality, before any major contact with the Arabs and the Europeans.

>>1377You really mean subsaharan rather than native.
The Copts have been in the upper Nile Delta since it was settled.

>>1379I don't know. Why?
>>1385I mean the original African populations, genetically and ethically speaking. (1) Mixed population, or (2) population that migrated to Africa from other territories don't count as original Africans, even if they (3) settled in unoccupied area.

Also does any nations in North Africa qualify as native for you?
No.1395
>>1392>for you?Why do you keep asking what's my opinion? I'm not an expert on North Africa.
>>1390>Ultimately everyone's from AfricaIf I remember correctly, a study released a decade ago concluded that the genetic distance between the average human and the average chimp is about 1.20%. This means that ultimately we're all chimps because we have a lot of DNA in common? I'm deviating too much from film discussion. As you said, this is pointless to discuss.
