Are there any filmmaking boards out there? I've been an avid lurker on /r/filmmakers, but their community is way too shattered (many plebs demanding ratings on their unlit shorts).

Also what are some films/ documentaries on quality filmmaking/ in-depth filmmaking?

The filmmaking board didn't last very long on 8chan.

Can't help much, but the cinematography.com forums seem fairly serious. It looks like there are many professionals posting under their real names.

Do you mean the technical aspects or artistic ones?

If it's the technical side I can upload a few books I have to the FTP site that's used on /tech/ later this week and there's the Side by Side movie about the transition in Hollywood from film to digital cameras.

Back in mid 2000's the film subforum on Something Awful had a good selection of links and ties to those communities back when they were involved in the The Recobbled Cut project. Nowadays that community is a shadow of its former self and has turned into a transsexual support forum. They also deleted the archives so it's probably a dead end.

I would love if you could upload those books.

Thanks!

I was thinking about it before if we could get even just a few dedicated people we could have a weekly thread, choose one element of film to focus on, shoot something emphasizing it, and give each other tips every week. Similar to the film thread, this could be a filmmaking thread. Maybe a week is too ambitious, I don't know.

I really like that idea; I think it could be done so long as the element is pretty specific
