The Piano Teacher actually made me faint during a particularly disturbing scene. I haven't seen any of his other movies.

Piano teacher gets my vote. You might like Le Temps du Loup.

Have a look at Michael, (Schleinzer), Petzold, Audiard, Seidl. Bruno Dumont is worth a look. Have you seen Rust and Bone? Kynodontas?
