This documentary has gotten some buzz lately, has anyone else seen it?

It's essentially a great episode of Frontline. Personally I knew little about the events between American troop withdrawl and the evacuation in Saigon, so the stories are fascinating.

One peeve is the apparently cropping (at times) of 4:3 video to be widescreen, which fucks up the framing. The same thing was used throughout Senna. Just pillarbox it!

Haven't seen this one.

I have seen Battlefield: Vietnam.
One of the best documentaries on the Vietnam War.

This is part ONE of TEN.
Check out the cool intro music:

There are so many documentaries being made these days I'm surprised this is nominated for Best Documentary. I liked it…but that nomination elevates expectations. I didn't think it was next-level.
Another doc in the American Experience series is Jonestown: Life and Death of the Peoples Temple. That was extremely compelling.

Hearts and Minds is worth watching too. It doesn't give a completely full picture – too sympathetic to the VC IMO – but it shows some of the blatant stupidity that propelled the war machine.
The montage of four consecutive presidents fibbing about Vietnam reminded me of the montage of four consecutive presidents announcing the bombing of Iraq.
