What's the point of squatting heavy?

5744f8  No.136722

so you can tell yourself that bodybuilding pussies will never experience the joy of having ruined joints.

ab2745  No.136727

Personally I don't go above squatting my body-weight.

791b81  No.136737

If you do other shit with your legs besides heavy squats, your joints will be fine. People just don't do enough high rep shit, and use low variety. They're also homosexuals that don't believe in the HAM Way. The ONE Way.

Define "heavy"

>>136722

Most of the gym bros probably already have bad joints from doing stupid shit.

Up to a certain weight it strengthens the bones and the cartilage, but I'm pretty sure cartilage is a somewhat elastic material and if you're an imbecile who squats 400 lbs you're going to overwhelm the resistance and it'll suffer permanent damage.

They have something called "tendon changing, marrow washing" that extends life and restitutes the bone and tendons. Embryonic breathing and small circulations are the prerequisite to it. They might help deformations on its own though.

Really? But that's so low. The highest I got my squat to was 205lbs (I weighed 160lbs) and I feel like such a pussy for it, that's a shit weight. I thought if you can't do:

>squat 1.5x your bodyweight

>bench 1x your bodyweight

>dead 2x your bodyweight

then you're a bitch? Am I right? These are my long-term goals, once I can do these I'll feel stronk and fit, and will probably look muscley as well. I've seen girls in the gym squatting over 135lbs, so the way I see it I should at least be able to take on 2 plates, even though I'm a manlet.

>>136764

Squatting 400lbs causes permanent damage? Even with proper form? wtf

How much can you safely squat, approximately? As long as you stay under 250lbs it should be okay, right? Now you're making my paranoid because my knees have always been kinda fucky, even since I was a kid.

They're the kind of guys that try to get to 400 lbs in a single month and face the repercussions for it, then swear against it the rest of their lives. If you take a year to get to 400 lbs, you're safe and sound. Do volume, variations, hit the different leg muscle chains, and do training that goes above 100 reps in a single set every month (preferably every week). Try "burn outs". Start at a high weight then get down to 20% of your max, except drop the weight quickly enough that you get up to 100+ reps at 20%. More like a "cool down". If you started at 80% of your max, down to 20%, go back up to 50% (half way) and do another "cool down" except actually "burn out" this time.

In all fairness, I find squatting pretty scary.

I don't go above a certain level because I'm not comfortable with doing so, therefore I do only what's necessary to stay fit.

>>bench 1x your bodyweight

Now, that's low.

Haven't I seen this leftycuck on their last "revolution" meme they attempted? Didnt this soyboy have a cake alluding to punching nahtzees or something? It's so god damned pathetic.

>>136794

Fuck me anon that is goals for a beginner. Reach those and you are barely reaching intermediate level. Train and eat then break through that shit within a year.

I thought that looked like a particularly familiar soygolem, what with the chest tat(s) and the Auschwitz-level emaciation.
