What should I do instead of sit-ups or planks to work on my core?

- Sit ups: I like doing these, but I keep seeing shit that it's dumb to do this exercise.

- Planks: I know it's a dumb reason, but the short of it is that if an exercise involve "X reps of something" instead of "do X for so many minutes" then I'm much more likely to incorporate it into my routine.

you can stop doing situps when you can perform 80 in 2 minutes

Hanging leg raises, deadlifts, squats, weighted rope pulldowns. Here's a couple that came to me from the top of my head.

Vacuums are very good and a nice accessory that you can do anywhere anytime.

ABS ARE MADE IN THE SQUAT RACK

Did I do it right anon?

 No.85535

>>85533 (checked)

Squats are awesome. They're my favorite exercise, but they don't make visible abs. They definitely make for a stronger core. Visibility of abs has very very little to do with how muscular you are, and just about everything to do with your bodyfat percentage. You can't get your bodyfat down low enough with your diet dialed in carefully.

That last sentence should read:

You can't get your bodyfat down low enough WITHOUT your diet dialed in carefully.

 No.85680

I do raised crunches or sit ups on that bench with the leg rests because I am a massive faggot and due to this fact alone I get punched in the guts a lot.

My abs are visible.

Anything that requires trunk stabilization will work your abdominals. Sit ups are pretty much just the surface stuff, planks/v sits/ heavy lifting/ actual athletic things requires the entirety of your core to do things properly.

Then they shouldn't be talking about improving their appearance. You must be the same retarded canuck from the other thread.

If you want 'le sixpack' as some plebbit dipshit put it, your diet matters more than anything. Visible abs come from having a low bodyfat percentage. Low bodyfat comes from diet. Working out is accessory to that.

Like I stated earlier, how muscular your abs are has only a tiny effect on their visibility. It has almost everything to do with body composition.

If you just want a strong core just do basic lifts.
