Will I make good gains using dumbbells?

I have 10-35 lbs, increasing by 5 lbs, all pairs except for a lone 20 lb.

My routine is abababx:

a: 3x15 standing skullcrushers(35 lb)

2x12 hammer curls(30lb)

2x12 regular standing curls(30lb)

3x15 shoulder press

3x30 weighted crunches(15lb)

3x200 flutter kicks

2x plank

b 3x12 dumbell rows (which dont feel like they're doing anything, probably doing them wrong)

5x10 weighted pull-ups(10lb)

3xfail wrist curls(15lb)

3x20 chest fly

3x15 stationary lunges (60lb)

3xfail calf raises (60lb)

Nah. You'll get better endurance though. Key for good gains is high weight low repetition. Think about it like this. Do a hundred pushups, and you'll get really good at doing pushups. But you won't get a 315 bench, even if it's the same basic movement.

I want to add at least 40lb of muscle. I've been thining about investing in a bench, probably a shitty one from wal-mart or somewhere, or getting a weight vest to augment my pull-ups and leg exercises. Do you think it's better to just forgo the vest and put my money to wards barbell stuff?

Get a bench that won't break

>40lbs of muscle

then you better get a gym membership or a fantastic home gym.

you can maybe do 20lbs the first year with diminishing returns the following years. it will probably take 4-5 years to hit the 40lbs

Sadly you will need a gym my amerifat friend. I suggest a cheap one with at least a squat rack.

>I want to add at least 40lb of muscle

That's almost impossible and unviable with just these kinds of exercise, you will need more weight and more resistance in the future, join a gym now, then you can get most of the gains from the first year.

>at least 40lb of muscle

>nearly bodyweight tier weights

Good luck with that.

Just get a gym membership like freedom man and BRo are telling you.

1) Go get a gym membership

2) Find the barbells

3) Do compound exercises

Anything else implies you have a cavernous hole between your legs instead of male genitalia.

Ok, I have been convinced. I should probably just sell my dumbbells then.

I originally wanted a home gym for ultimate convenience, but it is starting to look really expensive and i don't have the room for a bench and squat rack unfortunately. I could put them outside, but they would obviously get fucked up after a few years. I have several friends that go to a 24-hr, I guess i could get a membership there.

That's a great option.

Any home gym that's worthwhile is gonna set you back at least 2 grand.

U WOT M8?

Decent (OK) power rack for about £250. Barbell about £70, pl8s off failures who gave up abd sell em cheap. 2 grand? Nah

>£70 barbell

Yeah, if you want it to snap when you load 3pl8 on it.

You also need to a place to deck out into a gym, as well as flooring and mats so you don't damage your house.

They do a 5ft 15kg barbell rated to 272 kg for 45£.

A hundred gets you a proper Olympic 7ft barbell.

2 grand for a home gym is pretty reasonable. I mean it is if you get what you pay for. Good quality deserves a higher price.

If you're getting used. If you look hard enough, you could probably get a complete powerrack+bar+bench+weight for $500 bucks. But honestly I wouldn't go cheap for something like this. Imagine if something breaks.

Dumbbells are superior for upper body work, as long as they're heavy.

That's a good idea. I don't know if all 24 hrs do this, but mine lets you add someone to your account for a fuckton cheaper than a regular subscription ($30/month vs $50/month). Ask one of your friends if you can do that.

Yeah I'm looking. Why are there different payment programs, is that for those stupid classes that they offer? What the fuck is an "initiation fee"?
