Soylent is great. Everyone who reviews it or criticizes it focuses on eating soylent alone for a month. While you can do that, soylent's best used as an extremely convenient meal substitute.
If you hate doing dishes, cooking, meal planning, shopping, or are just in a hurry it might be useful. I drink soylent every other day for one meal to get some exposure to nutrients I wouldn't otherwise get from my diet which is 90% Oatmeal and protein, rice, eggs, and beans.
On it's own it probably won't help you lose weight, but it will fill you up so if you have a habit of overeating when you get hungry it can help.
The taste gets better after a few days. It tastes like slightly less viscous bisquick
