You just need to do them properly. Here's what I do.
Star the lift with your back rounded. This will activate all the muscles. Exhale all the air out of your lungs and begin to lift the bar up. Start by flexing your biceps, your arms should be slightly bent during the entire lift. Make sure the bar doesn't touch your body, it should be as far out as you can put it without falling over. As you near the top, start adding twists to the movement, rocking the weight side to side. This will make your stabilizer muscles strong and make the weight seem lighter.
Make sure you only breath in while you do this. Your muscles need to get more oxygen because it's such a hardcore lift. If you don't, you will lose all the tension in your body and the ATP won't metabolize properly. When you get to the top of the lift, shrug and lean back to bring the bar up an extra few inches, and set the whole weight on your pelvis while standing. Take a breath, you earned it. Now do the entire thing in reverse and set the weight down. Don't make any noise.
Also this only really works if you're doing as much weight as you possibly can, maybe even more than you can lift. Just keep trying. Looking forward to hearing about your progress.
