So check this shit out from our dear friends and pillar of the gaming community Electronic Arts.

I was sitting on my PC watching some vids or whatever bullshit at 1:00 am when I noticed an email from EA. It was notifying me to my surprise that my password and email had been changed for my Origin account.

I immediately tried to get onto their support, it took a little while as you need an origin account to contact them. So after making a new one I told whoever I got a hold of that my account had effectively been stolen and all I got was a courtesy email from them.

(Most web services that hold things of much less value will send you an email asking if you actually wanted to change your account email and password not just let you know your account has been stolen.)

I had made the EA account that become this origin account some time after the release Battlefeild: Bad company 2 in which I used some fake DOB and name.

Since i did not know the DOB or name of the account I was unable to get it back I was able to convince "support" to lock the account until this could be resolved knowing whoever stole the account probably didn't have this info at this point either.

By talking to support I was able to get the case escalated and i hoped to use all the physical copies of the games serial keys and games added to my steam account that were also on the origin account to get my account back. I though if i could talk to someone with the power to change the accounts email and password it would be easy to convince then i was the account holder as the prick who took the account would have 0 evidence to support any claim over it. Also the fact that i reported the account stolen the moment it happened should make a rational person think yeah this guys probably telling the truth.

At this point I should mention this shit had happened to a bunch of people before me and was a serious issue that EA was aware of and had not sent out a single email warning its users to check their account info or change their passwords.

So after sending in all my photographed physical evidence past user names, passwords and being assured that the matter was being looked into. I was told it was going to take some time due to the sheer amount of cases they were having to deal with. They still decided not to notify their customers they had a serious security breech.

After months of this i received the following email after actively chasing them via email and the support channel (see image).

Basically they changed policy decided to not tell anyone about it due to amount of cases they had to deal with hopping people would fuck off and let their hard earned money be stolen.

So I had to start again only this time I had to call the Australian support on a special number that costs $2 or $3 a minute and leaves you on hold for about a good 15 - 20 minutes (you lose track with all that bad music and EA advertisements). Once I got a hold of a person I very quickly explained my situation and tried to get them to move this over to email so I was not spending more money then the account was worth.

Don't get confused by this point i had about 5 or so games on the account with all the exploitative DLC so I could have been on the phone for a while.

Via email they got me to re tell them everything i told support last time.

After dealing with a few people telling me they are escalating the case and that it will take increasing lengths of time. I always had to contact them telling them whatever ETA they had given me had come and gone first though. I get this email stating they don't have a fucking clue when it will be looked into. All of my further enquirers were ignored I at no point spammed them just asking every few weeks to months for an update which i never received. It was been about 2 days over 2 years since the last contact.

I refused to buy more games from then even though all my mates were still playing the shit. I told them to make sure they knew the DOB and account name of all their shit so if it happened to them they'd be OK. I implore you all to do the same, the issue then if if someone gets all their data again they have your real name and DOB and possibly some banking info as you are using origin as a point of sale, hopefully with Paypal though.

A good mate of mine did re-buy some of the shit we played together so we could keep playing during some sale they had I was never going to give them money again. I have been careful with this account knowing the name and DOB of the account using unique passwords. They might just have also fixed the abysmal system they had in place to begin with that cased this mess but this is EA i wouldn't count on it.

At no point did I ever receive an email from EA notifying me of any security breaches they were obviously suffering from and just one email would have made me fix up my account so this never happened. But they do not give a shit about security or their customers.

I was able to make people on the live support chat they have admit they had a security breach and that the situation was not an isolated one I wish I had taken some screen grabs of that.

I also urged them to notify people of the situation they said they would take my complaints higher but i am sure he just moved onto the next call immediately after i left the chat from his PC in India.

I am sure they knew it would be mostly ignored by everyone if they didn't mention it and the people who suffered would just re buy anything making them more money.

Here is some of the physical stuff I have that should prove the account is mine they on many occasions were able to find the account using these serials so would know they are attached to it and can see i am in possession of the original game packaging. I did send them these photos as well.

Did you even read the whole thread?

The correct details are no longer relevant as he doesn't know them.

The account was stolen, along with over 40,000 other EA accounts.

And EA didn't even bother to remedy or warn the customers in the slightest that their info had been compromised.

I think it's about time for a class action suit.

Quite simply.

Fuck EA.

That is all.

We need to get in contact with all the EA hacked account holders.

I agree, EA should be liable for this.

Plus gamergate would get a 40k+ boost.

As i said i made that account for what at the time was 1 game that was on steam before origin even existed i just made it quick, and i am always reluctant to use real data with companies with fucking terrible security.
