Tried his hand at politics, became Governor of one of the best states in the US of A.

Left politics with more people disliking him than when he entered, scandal got outed, got divorced and still makes moves that put assholes in seats.

Mark "Chopper" Read
Australian born career criminal, pop-culture icon and accomplished author; Mark Brandon Read aka "Chopper" is an ultimate all time tale of a flexer.
Born to a former army father and strict religious mother, he was placed in a children's home for the first 5 years of his life.
A problem child from day one, Read was declared a ward of the state at age 14, from which he drifted in and out of several mental institutions. It was here, he later claimed to be treated with electroshock therapy.
At a young age, Read was already an veteran street fighter and the leader of the Surry Road gang.
He began by robbing drug dealers, disguised as massage parlours in his home city of Melbourne.
He soon expanded into kidnapping, using blowtorches and bolt cutters to remove toes of victims as an incentive for payment.
It's reported that in his adult years his was in prison more than out. Mark Read spent 13 months outside prison during the age of 20-38, for the convicted crimes of kidnapping, armed robbery, firearm offences, assault, arson and impersonating a police officer.
While in prison in the late 70s, his gang "The Overcoat Gang" (to conceal weapons inside) launched a prison war at Read's request.
Soon after his was engaged in a long and violent skirmish with a far larger and more powerful gang. The infamous "Painters and Dockers Union", a large criminal network disguised as a trade labour union. Their influence extended far beyond the prison.
After a time the "Dockers" put a substantial contract out on Mark Reads life. Its believed this causes him to run foul of his two long time friends and lieutenants James "Jimmy" Loughnan and Patrick "Blue" Barnes. Mark Read's loyalty to Jimmy Loughnan is what got him caught in the first place as he attacked a judge at Jimmy's trial…
After an reported "shanking" of Mark Read by Jimmy Loughnan while Blue watched wasn't enough for the authorities to release him, Mark Read earned his namesake by having another inmate slice off portions of his ears. Though he told the prison guards at the time it was another attack.
Chopper was a free man, and released back into society. But he was a paranoid man. He always maintained he had a permanently contract out on him from:
*Jimmy Loughnan, who later died in a 1987 prison fire.
*The Painters and Dockers Union, now long since disbanded.
*Italian/Australian criminal made man Alphonse Gangitano (The Black Prince of Lygon Street). Who Chopper claimed had kicked in his cubicle door whilst take a shit. Chopper reclaimed the way he escaped was by forcing his on faeces into Gangitano's face.
*Greek(?) Australian criminal boss Neville Bartoss whom Chopper tormented regularly throughout his life.
*Various Italian, Greek and Middle Easten gangs that he targeted over the years. Particularly those angry about Read's killing of criminal (and professional hitman Read claims) Siam "Sammy the Turk". Who was hired to kill Read at Jimmy Loughnans request.
He claimed to be a modern day "Ned Kelly" and produced a series of memoirs and autobiographies.
Chopper had a self titled Australian movie made about him in the year 2000.
He also was the inspiration for the character Keith Blackwell in the science fiction trilogy Bridge written by author William Gibson.
Sadly Mark "Chopper" Read passed away from liver cancer late 2013.
A man, who with such a troubled past at a young age, grew into a million pop-culture icon.
