Posted this on one other thread here, but hello. My name is Rivaille (online, anyway). Me and several other users from reddit have a Frozen chat in Skype and Discord. We are pretty active every single day. We're based around Frozen, but pretty much every (SFW) topic is up for discussion. Games, movies, current events, etc. If anyone would like to come join us or say hi, here is the link to the chat. You can join directly as a guest from your web browser. We are all very nice and always glad to take in more members! :)

Recently I took my daughter to the playground. One of the kids there (nobody we knew) was having a birthday party, and her parents had hired an Anna actress. I was inspired to see if /frz/ was still going. And here you are!

I had a wonderful time here. I loved you all. I still love you. I've prayed for you every day since I left, and I'm going to keep praying. My ride is long since over, but I'm still fond of this place. Maybe when Frozen 2 comes out, I'll get back on.

Don't be so sure of that. I'm drawing trees and mountains, two of the easiest things you can possibly draw. Just watch some Bob Ross, the reason he draws so many trees and mountains, and also the reason why he's able to knock paintings out so fast, is because they're so easy to draw, and so hard to draw badly (remember, his show was meant to help less experienced painters). For trees, you literally just tap the tip of your brush against the canvas like a retarded spastic until you have a tree. For mountains, you just draw a big black mountain-shaped blob, and then cover it up with white and gray, and maybe blend in some splashes of color (I used the colors of the sky).

I assure you, if I were trying to draw people or whatever, it would not look this good. Actually, I think I may have posted some of my old sketches from when I was a teenager on Snowchan at one point. They were pretty awful.

Same. I typed out a long response, and then said "Wait, what am I doing? This is stupid."

>You know various alphabet soup agencies are taking advantage of this crap.

Not much they really can do with near field communications. There are much better ways they could keep tabs on me than with a technology that doesn't tell them where I am, and can only be read when they're within a few centimeters of it.

Please pardon my initial reaction, it's a bit frustrating to make such a decision out of a wide-eyed love of all things scientific and technological, and have pretty much everyone, all your friends and loved ones, immediately shut you down with "It's the Mark of the Beast!" I get conspiracy theory/government paranoia, but trying to tell me what to do or what not to do with my body based on someone else's religion just doesn't sit right with me. I feel like an abortion-loving SJW right now.

Like… If I told those same loved ones that cows are sacred in certain cultures/religions, they'd be no less inclined to eat beef, so I don't really see what the difference is.

>I'll be getting magnet implants soon-ish. I've got a plan for some VR haptic feedback stuff.

What, like controller vibration built into your hands or something? Mite b cool. I wouldn't want to do the magnet implants, because 1) I've heard the procedure for that is exponentially more painful than getting chipped, and 2) I'd be paranoid about the magnets getting attracted to a really powerful magnetic field and pinching my skin from inside or something. It's… strange. If you took the original Frozen characters, mixed em up with their OOC !mAU variants, and put the whole thing in a deus-ex HR ripoff universe and had a serious autist write the whole thing, you'd have that fic. If that's what you're into…

> I doubt you could bore me with it, m8. You and I sound like birds of a feather.

My legs are starting to fall apart. I'm hoping I can save up enough money from my programming job and learn how to build prosthetics fast enough to build replacement ones before I get so disabled I can't support myself. The more I learn about hardware the more ideas I get. Like, I could stick a bunch of depth sensors all across the surface of a cowl, sew small motors to the inside and have them fire pulses depending on how far away things are, essentially using sensory substitution to 'see' behind me. I could prototype it by building a simple rangefinder with a haptic motor. Heck I could use a wii controller for that.

I just wish I had more time and cash to build these things =/

 No.5836

>>5835

Sorry to hear about your legs. Me, I'm more of a build guy than a programmer, don't really have any experience with that (unless you count playing around a bit with rom hacking a few years back, I wouldn't). I can do CNC work and so on. It'd be a dream come true to get together with a like-minded individual and make some cool stuff happen. We could make you those legs.

I actually had a similar idea for a cowl some time back, though much simpler in design. Something like a mandalorian helmet, taking a composite of several tiny cameras pointing in different directions to create one, sort of "fish-eye lens" image on a screen so that you can literally see behind you, and above you, and so on.

>I just wish I had more time and cash to build these things =/

I know that feeling. Other people don't seem to get that, either. They say "Just do it! You're just making excuses! If you're waiting to have time or money, you're waiting for perfect conditions, and great inventions are never made under perfect conditions, because perfect conditions don't exist!"

I'm not asking for perfect conditions, but money makes the world go round, and without time to work on things, you're not working on things.

>Any ideas what you plan on doing with the implant?

I want to program it in such a way where different receivers will react differently to the same code, so the chip in my hand is one-size-fits-all, while I set up receiver tags to do very specific tasks. Initially, unlocking a door is probably going to be top priority, but then things like making some of my more dangerous inventions only work for me, and so on.

I've actually wanted to create an EDF hoverbike like something out of Perfect Dark for a while now, so using my chip as an ignition key would be an obvious use, and more secure than an actual key.

But it seems she couldn't make the same effort. She's been cold and distant ever since the election, even more so since the inauguration. Finally, a week or two ago she came right out and said that she was disgusted with me and couldn't stand to be with me because I'd voted for Trump. I used logic on her and made her realize what an unfair bitch she was being and made her feel bad, so we're still technically together, but it's basically over.

Ftr, I didn't break up with her yesterday, I just asked if she wanted a pretzel, she said no, I said "okay," and that was the extent of our interaction on Valentine's Day.

For what purpose?

In regards to the Best Song award, I do feel bad for Auli'i, but then, that award always goes to the songwriter and not the singer for some dumb reason, and I personally find Lin-Manuel Miranda overrated as heck, so I'm not too broken up about it.

Also, how does Jungle Book get the Visual Effects award over Dr. Strange? Have they really not seen talking CGI animals before? I don't get it.

Finally, Suicide Squad is an honest-to-goodness Academy Award winner. This is an actual thing that happened, not a joke. I–I have no words…

Miranda is great, but I loved La La Land too so I'm not too broken up about it. As for visual effects I guess there was more of a wow factor for Dr. Strange, but I was pretty damn impressed by The Jungle Book too so I was fine with it going either way. I'll agree with you on Suicide Squad though, that was bullshit. The DC fans will be even more insufferable now that their trainwreck of a franchise has an Oscar and the MCU doesn't.

Starting my YouTube channel. I mean… I already have one, but I've kind of abandoned it. Being a purely vidya-focused channel is just a noose when often the things I want to talk about aren't vidya, and besides, the vidya channel market is already oversaturated. So I want to shift focus to a different format where, instead of talking with my friends, I do a lot more solo vids discussing whatever's on my mind (which lately is mostly political stuff, but it doesn't have to be. I have some other topics in mind already that are apolitical).

For example, I have a whole long thing with numbers and statistics to discredit the "THERE'S NO PROOF THERE WAS VOTER FRAUD! DRUMPF IS SO PETTY, FOCUSING ON THE ELECTION INSTEAD OF DOING HIS JOB, BECAUSE THIS TOTALLY COULDN'T POSSIBLY END UP BEING AN ISSUE IN ANOTHER, FUTURE ELECTION!" argument.

You'll feel it as soon as you start carving into yourself, pretty much no matter what you do.

Your two best options are a pistol or barbiturates. A pistol is usually quick, but even a direct headshot isn't always an instant killer, and you'll definitely feel it for the brief time before you die. Barbies are allegedly the most "pain-free" form of suicide out there, though they can be a bit unreliable. Basically, anything else, your body will disagree with your decision, whether that be through extreme pain warning you not to do what you're doing, or by simply acting against your will (eg, most people aren't even able to hold their breath to the point of passing out, as they'll involuntarily start breathing at some point). I've heard tales of people who tried to kill themselves by sitting inside a running car in a closed garage. They passed out, started spasming, and somehow ended up getting out of the vehicle while in this state, and they survived. The anti-suicide instinct is quite strong, unfortunately.

But of course, don't go offing yourself until we've at least had our /frz/ meetup.

999 times out of 1000 (not an actual statistic there, just a number I'm throwing out, but probably not far off), when someone announces their intent to commit suicide, it's either for attention (in which case they don't actually intend to go through with it), or because on some level, they want to be talked out of it.

Now despite the fact that you've been talking about suicide on here for a very long time now, and it's always guaranteed replies, I actually don't think you're doing it for attention. So consider the following: I don't need to talk you out of it, you yourself are already not wholly committed to the idea. Suicide isn't really something you should do unless you're 100% into it. So even if that part of you that doesn't really want to do it is just a tiny minority, consider giving that minority the electoral victory on this one, because sometimes, that really works out for the best.

Regardless of what it is, we pretty much know jack diddly at the moment. For all we know, no sarin was dispersed at all, no one died, and no missiles were launched at Syria. The only sources of information we have right now are Trump speaking (which could be lies for the sake of not revealing his hand in 32D cosmic poker) and (((MSM))). Which one? Me?

 No.6125

So, is this place alive? How many are around here?

the captcha from this place sucks a lot!

 No.6126

>>6123

Maybe? It's not like I know which anon is which anon.

I'm not saying I've bought the Neoreaction farm here. But the thing about tradition is that you don't recognize it until you go to a place without it. The absence of tradition turns out to be not freedom, but anomie. It is all well and good to suppose everyone well-educated and capable moral actors, but to my dismay, most public schools do not teach moral philosophy, the Greek classics, history, or Latin. In fact, I am not even sure what they do - except throw pizza parties for those who test slightly higher than the average and laud them as the "smart" kids who might become a doctor (a rather cruel joke, I think). It is one thing to pick which brand of cereal to eat. It is another to puzzle out moral problems, and cultural repositories of knowledge encoded in simple aphorisms are simply better than letting people develop some of the… questionable… beliefs I've witnessed.

The problem with what you folks call "the Cathedral" and others call "the establishment" or the (((elites))) is not necessarily their existence. Rather, "the Cathedral" has ceased acting as a cathedral. If the majority of people, for one reason or another, are incapable of acting as moral arbiters of their own life and constructing pro-social meanings of life, then it falls upon an institution to carry out the moral dictates previously constructed. And today, the elites have abdicated that duty. They outwardly profess an ecumenical niceness and a willingness to tolerate all things. But this is not how they live.

To gaze upon a fortress of privilege is to be transported to the world of yesteryear. Clubs still flourish, churches are regularly attended, families are whole, and their children wholesome. And more importantly, the religion is more than just lip service. What use is a "devoutly" religious person that still lives a life of sin? Even in the strongholds of the left, eco-spiritualism is really just repackaged Christianity. Their workplaces represent cultural norms which have remained largely the same since the Ancien Regime. Their lifestyles echo lifestyles stretching back to time immemorial. Far from being stifling, these traditions create an atmosphere of assured security. This is not how they are portrayed. This is not the narrative which has been constructed.

In the absence of a greater societal narrative, the masses flounder. Without traditional guidance, they turn to materialism. I quite like material prosperity. But the problems of what is often called "middle-class" America are not created by an absence of material prosperity alone. The old ones are far more grounded and more sensible. It is the absence of God (by which I mean real moral tradition, and not necessarily Christianity, which is often present in strange forms) which has made everything permitted. In this environment, they do things like buy ridiculous luxuries. They own possessions which are nicer than the ones back home. The difference is that these 50th percentile folks work near-minimum wage jobs while their rich counterparts run the world. Why does a fast food worker deserve the same things as a king? Now, of course, they still aren't happy. So this creates a pathology of envy. Because they already have… very, very nice things, they must imagine a hypothetical person with nicer. It means they readily lap up images of absurd luxury, being convinced of a world of unreal phantom wealth just beyond the horizon. They lose sight of the idea of money as agency - the ability to make the rules of the game, not just play them. Even if they experience momentary prosperity, it is pissed away pursuing the dream of money as consumption. A poor man buys things. A rich man buys experiences and time.

Having whipped up a nice froth of resentment, they turn to rebellion and the violation of taboos which no longer have any enforcers. They behave badly and justify it by saying others behave worse (sometimes true, but hardly an excuse). Comparing a nightclub party from a man who owns a castle to your typical club affair, I have to say that the former is orders of magnitude more restrained. And this is a place of violation! But the point of violation is that the code of proper conduct provides the backdrop, and thus the occasional transgression, placed within the appropriate cultural context, becomes indulgence, the forgiven sin. A taboo which is always violated ceases to have any meaning. And order which is never upheld is not order at all, but a paper foe for criminals to mock.

They trap themselves in prisons of their own making, saying they have had no choice and that society binds them there. And one day, when the grapes of wrath are pressed and the cup of resentment overfloweth, they will batter down the Gates of Paradise and find nothing there.

Got a week of vacation, I'm working on a program to make some cars drive around based on a neural net which I'm also making, It'll be dfficult, but maybe I 'll have something to show next week.

Also I ice skated 13,600 kilometers this friday in thialf, it was a lot of fun with some people from school, but made me realise

one: I don't have enough power in my body to do this and my back hurts because of that, and

two: I don't really have any friends that wouldn't rather be with other friends of theirs when doing stuff like this. :(

Also(Damn I 've been busy) I 've started reading Table for Three again, it's punzelsanna story with currently over 1 million words that is still being extended. I really love it but my busy live since a month or four didn't allow me to read too much.

This was longer ago but I wanted to try drawing a bit, I never really could do it very well and I thought I should at least get a bit better. I drew elsa about 30 times in the span of about 10 days and just this week one of my classmates grabbed the notebook it was in (my dutch notebook, I forgot I did it in the back of that) and ridiculed me for it, I think I did some relatively good damage controll but when skating some of the more popular girls and guys looked at me weird and said something about ice powers. I quickly skated past them but it still hurt a lot.

>Eatan

just had some baked chicken with curry sauce cus my brother loves that and he's gotten his own place, or rather, my parents gave him a flat with four bedrooms which he hires to three friends and himself, all in all he earns more money in rent than he has to pay my parents for the mortage. I feel happy for him, but my parents are almost 100% not rich enough to 'give' me the same treatment, which makes me feel a bit cheated.

>Drinkan

More water, my back is acting because of the ice skating I talked about, so I need to take care of it again.

>Feelan

My back is hurting which really plays on my mood, but since I finally have time to program again I have something to have my mind work on whilst eating, which makes me happy. I'm also getting a lot of positivity from T43.

I'm also just feeling really fed up with my back situation, the accident was ages ago (it was two days before posting this post about it: >>6602 ) and the pain is just not going away. The fact that I have to use my backpack to carry my books to school every single day isn't helping too. I really loved the ice skating, but that too fucked my back hard again. I feel so annoyed at taking over 4 grams of asperine every day. I feel so dumb taking all that medicine and still hurting to much. My dockter says it's just a bruised (gekneusd) spine, and it should have been over when the accident was 6 weeks ago, it's been over 15 weeks and I just want it to be over.

(sorry if this is getting too long a lot of things happend this week)

I've also had a very nice talk with my parents about my school-rest situation, we (well they knew I realised) that I have a very large tendency to overwork myself, I never believe in myself. My average marks never feel good enough and sometimes I go weeks to months without ever doing anything not school. I realised I've been doing this for years and I really want to get more healthy in that respect, but the problem is I have no idea how to 'fix' myself. any advice?

With the little free time in which I also did all these other things I finised the last of the currently available 10k words+ elsanna stories. Now I need to dig the archieves for the couple I have missed and round it all up in a sickenly long reddit post over at /r/elsanna. Sad and happy at the same time about this one.

sorry for the novel. I love you all!

Over here, garbage person is a super-low class, poor person job and you don't see women at all doing it. It is delicious. Another popular one is the kroket, which is basically a deep-fried stick of ragout.

My sister threw out her back changing carpet a little over 3 years ago and she's been in agony ever since. Worse, it happened right before she found out she was pregnant, so she couldn't take anything for the pain during the entire pregnancy. She can't sit down at all, forcing her to stand up for long periods of time at work before she has to lay down for a bit. This has casued damage to her feet, legs, and hips.

Since giving birth to my niece, she's undergone two differnt surgeries (the doctors say the nerves are "tangled like spaghetti" and were unable to fix it), has been on several different meds, and even tried some kind of cryo-therapy. Nothing seems to work, though she did just have some electrodes attatched to her back that send out a pulse that dulls the pain, and that seems to work. They were on the outside for a trial run for a couple weeks, now she hopes to have them permanently implanted soon.

I hope it works. If this keeps up much longer, she may have to quit her job.

On second thought, it may be a bit generous to call a VN a vidya, since it's more of a vaguely interactive picture book.

I usually don't gravitate toward Japanese entertainment. I find a lot of it generic and dull. I saw some people mention S;G on another board recently though, and decided to grab it in the recent Steam sale on a whim. I really wasn't ready for those feels. After I finished the VN, I decided to watch the anime adaptation just to torture myself a second time, though the anime isn't as dark and has a happier ending.

I would probably be a lot more into VNs if they had a Western art-style and were written by Westerners; Manga/anime art, and the characters and humour in Japanese media is not my cup of tea at all.

 No.6802

>>6801

>I would probably be a lot more into VNs if they had a Western art-style and were written by Westerners

I've played a couple that were like that, but they were really short and not all that great. Not anything I would recommend.

 No.6803

>>6802

I did play a couple of Japanese VNs back in the day: Kana: Little Sister, Yume Miru Kusuri: A Drug That Makes You Dream, and the infamous Bible Black.

Maybe a purely texbased novel might be better for a Western game? Or a VN-esque game that is played on a virtual machine/emulation (like Win93: http://www.windows93.net/) - a fake desktop with working programs and Internet access, where you interact with NPCs in emails/social media.

 No.6804

>>6803

Now that's a neat, novel idea, and I would be all over it. It might be a bit too cumbersome for most players though. The game would almost certainly be niche. Whether or not that's a bad thing is up to the game's creator.

 No.6805

File: fd10568ae17e501⋯.png (37.98 KB, 620x790, 62:79, 1d waifu.png)

>>6804

Yeah, even more so than Japanese VNs probably. There would be no need for 3D models or game art though, since it would all be presented as happening on your actual screen. Maybe an interaction system like in ‘Façade’, where characters respond to your messages? Or you pick from a pre-selected responses. Something like the Everypixel Aesthetics Test (https://everypixel.com/aesthetics) site, which is able to recognize faces, actions and moods, etc., from images might be implemented to allow characters to respond to attached images you would send them.

I think it could be an interesting experimental game trying to advance natural character interaction in vidya, making the player feel like they are interacting with an actual person rather than a NPC – a very primitive version of the Turing test almost.

 No.6806

>>6803

> Or a VN-esque game that is played on a virtual machine/emulation (like Win93: http://www.windows93.net/)

That would be quite cool, I would defenitely play it. But like >>6804 said it would be extremely niche. Not that that would be too bad depending on the playerbase, but it sounds like a really interesting idea.

currently I think the uni in enschede, which has way cheaper housing and is so close by that I can go by (government funded) train for the first year to save more money, is the best choise. According to some national research it's the best computer science course in the netherlands.

The one in enschede also seems a lot more comfortable, or 'gezellig'. On the other hand the one in delft and eindhoven felt a lot more professional. That shouldn't really matter though, as the software world is so deprived of developers that they'll take anyone with a degree.

All in all quite a hard decision to make, luckily I have my parents' (and you all) support in this.

I haven't been to Enschede when I was scouting for universities, but I imagine it's a small university compared to that in Eindhoven?

You're right in that it's difficult, however you seem to have the hardest part (choosing the subject) down.

>Necessary reparations or is it a very nice old car?

Neither. I bought a used Mustang a few months ago, and a previous owner put yellow tints on the fog lights, and I think they look dumb (they give the car a kind of catsup and mustard look), so I want to take them off, but the grille is kind of in front of the lights, and the tints are stuck on with some pretty strong glue, so it'll be a bit of a chore getting them off. Nothing too major, but more than just a simple grab-and-peel. I also really need to wash the car inside and out, as it's getting pretty grimy.

Working on more exam studying, yesterday I did an English exam yesterday and got a 9.4/10, feels damn good man. This morning I did a maths-B exam and I got a 5,8/10. Not the best, but above my normal average and good enough for me to finish my year. Also I still have 9 days until the exam is at the 14th.

Also no sailing today because I'm working on the studying.

Kinda not Doan but waiting on working on it, I'm waiting for the last couple of parts for a light based alarm. I have an arduino, clock, power converter and a LCD screen already, just waiting on the led strip now.

I must crack the code. The symbols appear on the 3, 8, 5, and 7 keys on a keyboard, respectively. 3 is DEF on a telephone, 8 is TUV, 5 is JKL, and 7 is PQRS. One possible combination that could be drawn from this is DUKS. At first glance, this appears to be a corruption of the word "ducks," but that's merely a misdirection. When reversed, the word becomes SKUD. If we then take the missing "c" from "ducks" and swap it out with the "k," we get SCUD, as in, the types of missiles developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. "Cold" is a very noteworthy word around these here parts, it could be referring to actual temperature, as in, Elsa's cryokinetic powers.

It's storming out and I could lose power at any moment, so for now, let's just work under the assumption that your acquaintance is a real life version of Elsa who is also a Russian hacker, until I've had a chance to dig deeper.

Still Studying for my finals, got economics on Wednesday and physics on the day after. The 5 I had last week felt like they went well.

I don't know that much about cycling but in the Giro De Italia, a Dutch cyclist is apparently expected to win so I'm following that a bit.

This week to calm down between finals I've read A Formal Arrangement (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10023938) It's a nice elsanna fic but it is not finished and probably never will :(.

My parents are away to some Christian Pentecost vacation weekend with my two brothers so I'm home alone. Two years ago with my SGSE (Havo) finals, I could also stay home, but this is probably the last time I'll be able to dodge the weekend whilst living at home. Oh well.

>Eatan

Tonight I'll be having a soup I made Thursday. This morning I made croissants out of a tin. It should be a pressurised tin that you tear open but I couldn't get it open by tearing the carton off. I then had to open the top with a generic tin opening which also failed horribly, damaging the dough inside. After that as the cherry on top, I completely forgot to roll the dough to create actual croissants from the flat dough. All in all, I ate flat dough triangles -_-

>Drinkan

More water, we have some leftover beer in the fridge for tonight.

Some newer apps have popped up and become somewhat successful just by marketing themselves as not being tied to Facebook, in fact.

Unfortunately, my step-grandmother stopped breathing and her heart stopped yesterday, and apparently they still don't have her breathing on her own yet, and I haven't gone to see her yet, so I feel kind of bad about going out for ice cream instead of going to see her, but I already had plans with my sister, who is back from spending most of the year on the other side of the country with her fiancé. Holy run-on sentence, Batman!

Anons, that archive naturally has a lot of duplicates. Me and a friend (mostly my friend) made a version with no dupes, which is significantly smaller (16GB to 10GB).

Kinda down, I guess. My life is going nowhere. I can't seem to save any money. No progress is ever made toward a happier future. I even tried to go get enrolled in classes, despite my advanced age, but they essentially turned me away. My ex keeps trying to get me to Netflix and chill, but I really don't want to, I want to move on with my life and start a real relationship, but that seems impossible. I really feel like I've run out of time, gotten too old, and no one will ever want me now.
