BACKGROUND INFORMATION: A spammer posted his imageboard to several other imageboards in the very early days of 8chan.co. Since I don't moderate 8chan, it stayed up for a very long time on /b/, and soon a WHOIS record was posted which had his full address and phone number. 8chan was very small at the time, so nothing was done with this information other than one user who found his Facebook and made fun of him for wearing a Guy Fawkes mask. Then, Mr. Troidl AGAIN spammed his imageboard on more imageboards, but got wise to 8chan and chose the site 76chan.org instead. They found the thread on 8chan and, being a site that is focused on raiding and doxing while 8chan is focused on user created boards, harassed him. Troidl knew he would get nowhere with them, so attacked 8chan.co via false abuse reports. No 8chan users had done any harassment, and him getting mad was fuelling the fire: 76chan had already backed up our thread and was launching attacks. Taking down our thread, which consisted of nothing but PUBLIC information (a WHOIS record that had not even been taken down at the time) violated my promises to my users. RamNode ADMITS in this email that they do NOT CARE if abuse reports are legitimate or if the person is a troll and spammer (he posted 4 threads to 8chan before he was "doxed" by an 8chan user who simply ran the command `whois kurobachan.org`) - they will force you to comply. The problem that they cited was that the page was "generating" abuse reports. As if a program was doing it and you had to kill the malicious process. Furthermore, I was banned from RamNode's IRC channel by Nick_A for refusing to part. I was then k-lined from their private circlejerk network by a IRCop. RamNode, and Nick Adams, its CEO, are not to be trusted if your site is even slightly controversial. I do not know why my paste was removed from Pastie but am more than happy to put it on a site I control. I will never host another site on RamNode, and anyone who asks me whether RamNode is a good host gets this answer: Absolutely not. My email exchange with RamNode is below. Between August and September I've received multiple phone calls including people threatening me. One left me a voice message saying "I'll slit your fucking throat Brandon" and "You're dead". I've also had at least $225 USD worth of pizzas sent to my house each from 5 different pizza company's in one afternoon. Also a false police report consisting of a noise complaint at 2:30am. The Police officer came to my door and said that there was a noise complaint but was suspicious when he heard nothing and I told him that I've been getting prank calls all evening including the threats on my voicemail and that someone must have called the police making a false report and that they use different phone numbers to disguise their actual phone number. I'm not involved in harassment. I think he should try to find the people harrassing him rather than send complaints to people who run user-generated content sites who don't even know him. -- You are responsible for whatever user generated content is on your website that is resulting us in receiving abuse reports. If someone murdered someone close to you would you blame the yellow pages site where they found your address? Let me know if I need to change hosts and how much time I have to do so.
