You're right about that, but there are some artists that don't make it too fluffy. For example most of Amakuchi's characters have light coats, but there is still a bit of fluff visible. Some artists also do different snout shapes, Kikurage for example with his canine characters having slightly realistic snouts.

Kemono is better in everyway : Better artstyles, no bullshit drama and sometime the lore and characters are actually cool despite them being in porn.

The only downside is : moonrunes, their absence of presence on the internet (every comic they do is physical) and the fact that kemono is super niche, whereas furry's got cartoons and movies (Okay there is the recent movie my Mamoru Hosoda, but I like furry girls, no bara (that shit is cancer and rampant in japan)

Furry has some good sides too : more fetish, more art, more presence on the internet, but the "fandom" is full blown cancer, seeking drama everywhere and filled with sickos, attention-whore.

If kemono could be mainstream with moe anime featuring cute kemololi (not for sexual) like pic related, it would be based.

Compered to other kemono doujins the sex scenes in Foxy Rena are a bit short. The scene in volume 8 was just 7 pages.

Still, Foxy Rena is quite fun.

I'm a 'graymuzzle'. I got into Furry Fandom when it was actually still a fandom, from the self-published comix Golden Era, before Fursonas were a thing, before RP/MUCKs, whinge whinge. I 'left' in 1997, when Furry became about Fursonas, but luckily there were Japanese guys doing cute stuff (attached pic related, one of my first discoveries? I still lol @ everything being 640x400) _and_ they were still doing it for the 'self-published comics' scene: "A Japanese mangaka is not a Real Mangaka unless they sell at Big Sight!". There were a few outliers like Dr.Comet, but the doujin market imho kept Kemono on the straight and narrow for a long time.

It's only been in the past few years that Kemono artists stooped to the lazy 'character (with no actual character) on a white background' thing, which occurred at first among the artists who associated with Furry, but the nation's takeup of Twitter is certainly partly blamable as one can get lots of fans without doing the effort of Comiket. However the JP idea of 'artist status' is still mass-appeal merchandise, not one-off fursona commissions for 40yo manchildren, but even in this forum, we've got spectrums wishing out loud that "hurr I want a hot Kemono artist to draw muh character!" Mmm… I see what you are trying to say, but I don't think Kemono is going to shit. I mean It always were about porn, even back in the days. Sure it's a pain in the ass to see that they mostly produce sketches on twitter and gain lot of fans for it, but it's forgetting that the average level of a kemono artist is way above your typical popufur.

Foxy Rena you call "furry-ized" is about a Fox slut that get raped and the plot goes nowhere, but the lore *is* interesting. I showed it to a normalfag one day, and some weeks later, after his denial session (i'm no furry!!) ended, he actually told me that he would love to see an anime of that.

Sure we sperg about waifus and all here, but I think most of the people (how many are we ? 6 ? 7) would love to see kemono in mainstream media again like in those 90's rpg (Shining force, Feda, Mana), it's my opinion in any case.

So yeah, you're a bit sad that kemono is growing bigger and less niche (If I correctly understood). It certainly has downide (a greater number of autists) but i think we're getting somewhere.

After all Shinobe and this guy with his Cheetah cyclist girl both released a full sfw story for comiket 89. Now if they could release that on the net and translate it (he tries) maybe we could have an actual "furry" webcomic that isn't a sad excuse for fanservice (99% of western webcomics)

Are you trying to say the stuff in Foxy Rena stuff is the same as those shitty commissioned comics that were specifically based on someone's crap fursona? I doubt I have seen anything like this in Foxy Rena. I don't think I have seen anything quite like Foxy Rena in the West. I do remember reading some war themed stuff called Stosstrupp but I don't consider that stuff to be even close. The "(C) THEIR PLAYERS" remark would be closer to something like pic related, I had to go look for this garbage and it's the closest thing to your example. I don't think it's fair to compare something relatively original and humorous like Foxy Rena to this. Also it's silly to assume that kemono stuff has to be tied to one subject matter. Wouldn't you get a bit bored if every single piece of kemono media was just repeats of stuff from Animal Bride?

Most of the artists I follow publish two or more comics every year with the exceptions being Liki and TrancyMick. I'm secretly hoping Mick does something with her stuff. I'd love to see her publish a manga but I doubt that will ever happen. Even folks like Sindoll who do commissions have a limited number of slots every year and he only does a few commissioned works every year. I'm fine with it as long as he keeps publishing stuff that I can buy. If I recall correctly he published two books and a 12 page print last year.

For the white background thing, I think he refers to the fact that the "Kemotwitter" (just invented this term) oftens dump a lot of pictures that are just quickly drawn sketches. Pic related.

Kemono is amazing but there are a lot of western artist who also do a lot of interesting works, Japan is like another world and even if they have some cultural contamination from western they will be and stay mostly "Japanese", after all, we cant say western art was not influenced with japanese works, just look the old super hero comics and the square looking bodies and faces, nowadays in western most art is like a mix between the old western and anime looking, althrough japanese usually put more focus on "the cute" thing and western for "the sexy" thing for example muzzles are like more smaller and delicate looking, in western muzzles are like more realisthic also, of course the eyes and the way they do the eyelases

I think furry actually owes a lot to japan, they're in fact more influenced by kemono than the opposite. Did you see the furry scene from 90 to 2005 ? It was mostly Loony toons rip-off, while now we can have stuff like pics related that heavily borrow from eastern influences.

Also one thing i've noticed about the furry fandom that differs from others such as anime/sci-fi/tabletop/ect is that furfags never really create good OC. Granted furries havent had an actual chan-board untill somewhat recently but you never see stuff like CYOA's, original stories, animations,games,ect that are from something fandom made… Most stuff is are just vidya/disney/pixar stuff and sparkledogs. I really want to see a proper furry anime that isn't based off some kids show. I know many webcomic fans dont like it, but I think two kinds would make a nice little anime series…
