How did you do it, how does it work?
>It grabs the largest image available (the one that shows up as "original_size" when using the api)
api? So is this how you know for sure you got the biggest image?
>but this artist draws a lot of small images so there's not always a 1280 version.
I always manually save everything and upscale to 1280 myself. It takes time tho. I would love a tool like downthemall for tumblr that grabs all images (in date order from oldest posted to newest posted) and always, always saves the biggest image (cause smaller rescales are frequent). Tumblr sucks because of how complicated layouts can be. Many people do not do simple paginated layouts and do that bullshit 'all load on one page' layout. That, and the 'archive' shows posts slightly out of order.
Fuckin Tumblr is style over sustenance and form over function. I can't stand it, and I wish artists would realize that its a hellhole place to host a gallery. Their search is useless, and their tagging system is flawed and doesn't always work. They are fragile, in an over sensitive environment, and can be gone at the drop of a pin.
