If you were following the news or even following the halfchan /co/ thread, which happens to be the only one Aaron watches, a couple friends of Aaron explained in further detail why Wednesday's strip arrived a day late: his main computer's motherboard failed on him, resulting in a temporary loss of both Wednesday and Friday's strips (though, since he only does greytones and miscellaneous things digitally and does everything else traditionally, the prints themselves were not lost). Since it was only a MoBo failure and not a hard drive failure, he still has his work, though it seems he's now out of a computer that isn't a laptop.

With all things considered, however, you really have to give credit to Aaron and his devotion to his work. In the same scenario as he, another webcomic artist - furry or otherwise, because such ineptitude and general laziness isn't exclusive to this fandom, believe it or not - probably wouldn't be expected to get back on the right track after a MoBo failure in just a day. Hell, the longest hiatus Aaron ever took was a month, and that was because he was overworking himself to finish five strips per week. Now the update schedule is only (and it's nearly a stretch to warrant saying "only") M-W-F, which, as he explained in a newsletter, gave him not only enough time to recover from an infection - which nearly called for amputation - but to get rest, exercise, etc. and not work himself too hard to deliver his work on time. When you compare this behavior to that of some other webcomic artists (namely, Kazerad), it's really a far cry.

But despite all this, he still makes less than $1.5k a month on Patreon. I know that Patreon gets a bad rap in these parts, but it's almost the reason why Aaron is still alive, both figuratively and literally. I don't often see this much devotion to one's work, and that's exactly why I feel that Aaron deserves a lot more recognition than he gets now. Beyond threads on the Chans, I don't know of anywhere else where people read and discuss this comic. Hell, I think it's here where I first heard about it.

It's nice to hear about a webcomic artist that cares about their work. Usually they don't try to make up for missing or being late for an update and things usually seem to go down hill from there. So his devotion for his comic is admirable. I just hope he knows how to finish it.

Well, shit, that specific moment was near the end of last February (the 25th, to be exact), so it's close to a whole year's worth of content. Anyway, here's what's happened since then: [spoiler]Around the same time Wally is in the ring with the lizard, Jim (one of the mutated Topsiders who travelled to the colony with Wally and Holly) has fallen under complete control of the so-called Schism Syndrome, which is some sort of ominous being that can control individuals and also refers to itself as "I" or "God". Under its control, Jim begins to make his way through the lizard colony, destroying all the eggs in the hatchery and setting several rooms ablaze.

Meanwhile, Wally nearly loses in the ring, and is about to be given a final blow from his opponent, but his opponent slips on a broken bottle that was thrown into the ring, falls on his back into the pile of broken glass, and promptly bleeds out. Holly, Chic, and Kirbee reach a hatch below the ring immediately after, but then their attention is diverted to Jim scaling up the roof of the arena with a can of gasoline on his back. He lights himself on fire from a chandelier, and supposedly from the help of I, starts spewing giant balls of fire onto the arena bleachers. Holly, Wally, Chic, and Kirbee all make it out of the arena through the central hatch just in the nick of time, as hundreds of lizards attempt the same and get stuck. The balls of fire then presumably burn to death every lizard still inside the arena.

Nearly making it out of the fire which engulfs the rest of the colony - and takes Kirbee's tail after she gets pinned from a falling support beam - the gang make it to the surface only to be confronted by the surviving colony population - fronted by Sarah, who speaks to Wally directly. They accuse Wally and the rest of burning the whole colony, but are interrupted as a squad of Topsider drones intercept the area. The lizards are at first given protection by Dittos, but since Wally has a mental link with them, he's able to reveal all of the lizards and conceal him and his friends. The lizards are then promptly wiped the fuck out by the Topsider drones, killing just about all of them (though Sarah's fate is left ambiguous, and is still unknown). Walking away from the scene, Kirbee explains to Wally and Holly that the name of the colony was "Unity".

Making their way out of the sand dunes, Wally and the gang gather supplies in the hopes of finding another colony. In the bag of supplies they have with them, it's also revealed that Clive, the brain that Holly wanted to bring with her, is also there. She immediately becomes more aggressive, and severely doubts the Kirbee's abilities. After a day or two, they nearly make it out of another Topsider encounter, and still possessing Clive, Holly begins to verbally abuse Wally very severely. While they're both distracted, Kirbee buries Clive in the sand, which only angers Holly even more. She motions towards Chic with the intention of beating him, but Kirbee slaps her off her feet. After all this, Holly then breaks down and admits to Wally that none of these actions were here own, implying that she, too, was under the control of "I".[/spoiler] (1/2, also spoilers broke last attempt, hence why I deleted it)

i honestly cant really blame kazerad, his fanbase are the ones to blame, the comic barely updates 3 times a year and the moment kazerad throws a crowdfunding campaign he gets 60k from horny Bethesdrones who just want to fuck katia. Being based in the elder scrolls lore is the only reason that shit got popular in the first place, specially since the comic is nothing more that elders scrolls fan fiction and waifu baiting…

It really is a shame how much recognition the comic doesn't get, because it's honestly one of the most well-written and consistent webcomics I've ever read with one of the most devoted webcomic creators I've seen, and on top of that he doesn't draw porn. The softcore stuff doesn't really count

Also, I think I recall an Endtown thread from like, late 2014/early 2015 getting a hundred or more replies. Maybe even a couple hundred, but I can't remember. That thread was where I first learned about the comic's existence, though

That's the thing I like about him. While he does, indeed, fail horribly at keeping any consistency in his update schedule, he's also completely frank with his fanbase. He isn't at all afraid to admit to them that he's falling behind schedule or is just outright too lazy to do anything. The last part isn't necessarily a good thing, but what matters is that he's always completely honest and doesn't really outright lie.

I don't think you understand exactly what that fundraiser was for. Kaz himself admitted that his main motivation for starting it in the first place is that people were asking him to start making merchandise. As such, most of the fundraiser money is going to producing said merchandise (which ranges from stickers and t-shirts to full-size tapestries, mind you), which, when considering the number of people who ordered it and the price it costs to produce it all, doesn't leave very much of the initial amount left to go into his pocket. On top of that, while I'm unfamiliar with GoFundMe's taxing policy, they probably take a certain percentage out of the total funds in the same way other fundraiser sites such as Kickstarter do. At the end of the day, Kaz is receiving a lot less than $60,000.

Sure, but I was more trying to clear up confusion regarding where the fundraiser money was going to, since it seemed to me that you assumed he just took all the money and ran. I apologize if this was a misconception on my part.

Either way, I feel that you're generalizing his audience a bit. Take me for example: I'm gay, and have little to no attraction to women. As such, I don't see Katia (or most any other female character) as "waifu material" because 1) like I said, I'm gay; and 2) I really despise the whole "waifu" thing, especially since it's causing a lot of disruption and arguing over at halfchan's Endtown threads. A large majority of the furry fandom is reportedly homosexual as well. When Kaz started the fundraiser some time ago, I was interested in buying some despite my lack of funds in order to do so. Was it because I wanted Katia as my "waifu"? Did I just want to waste money (which I didn't and still don't have)? The answer to both is 'no'. Did I think the merchandise simply looked neat and appealing to the eye, and as such it would be something I'd like to hang up on my wall or wear on my chest, depending on the type of merchandise that I hypothetically ordered? The answer to that one is 'yes'. If it's true that a majority of the fandom is gay, then it could raise the question of whether or not those gay faggots shelled out some of their wallet for a giant tapestry (one of which doesn't even include a depiction of Katia) simply because they liked the main character. Maybe they just like to collect merchandise, like me. That's a generalization in itself, but still.

Besides, Kaz himself has said before that he doesn't really understand the whole "waifu" thing, because he didn't intend for Katia to be a likable character in the first place. She's clumsy, an alcoholic, and often fails simple tasks. If the audience decides to like that, then sure, I guess it could be called pandering.

the current thread is doing surprisingly well since waifufaggotry has been kept to a minimum.

Started reading the comic this week and just caught up. It was a pretty good read.

The only thing that worries me about the comic is Aaron Marx. I didn't really like the idea of having a post-apocalypse survival story and then adding a character who's a wizard/god/multiverse traveler/whatever and can apparently resurrect people in other universes. It's acceptable for now but I worry that the story might get to the point where the characters will be travelling through multiverses and stuff like that, I've seen my share of shark jumping in furry comics.

Also, I hope that Wally and Holly get over their anger management issues, ever since Loss.jpg they have been blowing up at every little thing.

its totally possible, Aaron has stated many times that holly breaking down was always part of the plan, kirbee or not… he also state very clearly that wally/holly are NOT the ain characters of the comic, that there are none infact, and no plot armor is gonna protect anybody, at this point everything is possible.
