I personally have a thing for 'editing' someone. Changing around their personality, altering memories, etc. even something as simple as making them believe their name is something it isn't.

One thing I kinda wish there was more of is entrancing someone, and while they're under power forcing them to have a crush/be in love with someone, then releasing them from the trance.

I really enjoy a more realistic approach, where it's just the hypnotist telling someone to relax. Other than that, tech stuff is great. Why waste time with hand-crafted brainwashing when you can write a program and automate the process? If there's any real-life technology like that in the near future I'll probably react to it with a terror boner.

Versatility and creativity. You can combine it with any other fetish and make a lot of different things happen. It's also just really nice to take a break from thinking for a while, or on the dom side, having someone trust you enough to let you do that with them.

When it happens instantly. I want a long, drawn-out process, so they can feel their thoughts slipping away (and maybe resist). Multiple regular sessions over a period of months to ingrain new thought patterns and behaviors is my ideal. I remember one really hot story where a subject woke up from trance not feeling any different, but it was implied to be the first foothold that the hypnotist will use to eventually erode her free will.

Most stage hypnosis stuff. In particular, that stiff-as-a-board thing where you can lay them down between two chairs. I haven't found a furry example of this.

If I find that a person is depressed during the pre-talk or whatever, I'm a little less inclined to do anything with them. Sometimes I get somebody who gets really clingy because the good feelings that trance can bring is the first happiness they've had in a while, and I never know what to do. They only want lewd stuff so they're not going to be interested in suggestions based around self-improvement, and I feel like I'm ultimately just another thing holding them back from actually digging themselves out of their shitty situation. I eventually cut it off because they become really creepy and obsessive after a while, and I feel pretty guilty because they want to devote themselves completely to me. Like, I'm just some dude with an internet connection, it's not like I can invite you to my private mansion for your new life as my maid/chef/secretary/sex slave.

Yikes. I was really worried that I was going down that depressed path you're talking about, and realized I might be dragging along a cool hypnotist friend I occasionally chat with. I think not everyone is able to acknowledge that their clinginess might be the very thing that could push people away.

Fortunately, recognition of that business was all I needed to take out my trash: Within the last half of a week or so I've pushed myself out of that self-fulfilling pity-party and turned the shit in my life completely around.

Also, a question for you hypnotists, if you're around: Would you say the effectiveness of a hypno session is affected by mood? While I was on my depression quest, we weren't running any sessions, and based on what I'm reading here I'm thinking that's probably a good thing.

Good question. I can kind of answer it by parroting a rule I've heard a lot, "Always remember, you're not a hypnotherapist." Basically, if someone has mental issues, they're in a vulnerable state, and the last thing they need is a non-professional in their head changing things around. I'm really into pup play, and for a brief period in my life I went through a lot of stress and was questioning if I was going in the right direction. Everybody does. Since I was also listening to a lot of hypnosis mp3s that focus on dog tf, I'll admit that I had a few passing thoughts that could be described as "otherkin faggotry". They cleared up as soon as the stress did, thankfully.

If someone's just feeling down from a hard day at work, then hypnosis can be a great decompression. If their entire life is crumbling, be there for emotional support but stop playing. Any kinky stuff could have a larger effect on them than you think.

Another thing: hypnosis depends on the subject being able to focus so completely on the hypnotist's voice that they ignore everything else, even their own internal thoughts. If a thought refuses to be ignored, like your grief over your only son's death or something, then it would make it more difficult to even go into trance.

Furry transformation in general is pretty difficult to do. You need to be able to visualize all of the different components and maintain those visualizations throughout the day. Haven't most people only reported phantom limb sensations at best? It's why I enjoy petplay, mental transformations are way easier than physical.
