There's several reasons why they don't work. First, no professional companies do quadsuits, so they're all going to be homemade. By virtue of probability, most are therefore going to suck because they don't have skill in making suits and use cheap materials.
Second, human elbows do not really bend in the same direction as a quadruped animal's elbows. They're too high up, anyway. So you're left with an odd bend or bump halfway down the character's humerus, and poorly-engineered bulgy elbows where they're supposed to be.
Third, none of them seem capable of proportioning/padding the legs to the rest of the suit. This is why they always end up with creepy long and slender limbs.
It is possible to make a quadsuit that doesn't suck, but you have to overcome those problems.
