The main reason why disney or golden age animation films only looked good is because they had multiple teams (we're talking hundreds of people) who worked on films. Nearly all studios also separated positions to it's bare minimum. Instead of each animator working on layout, BGs, correction, storyboarding, effects, and character animation altogether like furry animators do, they have several people doing each position separately.
The disney animator has their workload reduced by a lot.

Animating every day for an entire year REALLY helps to improve. i took some days off for still art but the majority of every day is done animating. it wasn't as hard to improve as i was expecting; as soon as you drop the fear of having an object move around in a 3d space, or for example, walk cycle that's at an angle where you can't copy/paste legs and have it look alright, it becomes a lot easier for more dynamic motion.

i wonder that alot. i'm not sure the entire answer. Humans generally aren't that interesting to draw overall. the majority of professional artists can do it and that is what they choose to stick to.
however, animals have a LOT more variety to them. it's kind of what makes the furry community unique; because you have the opportunity for insane designs, and double that when you consider hybrid creatures.
there's a lot of animated content out there, but like 90% of it is human oriented, and designs start to get recycled a lot. if show creators even just dipped their toe into anthro characters as a main feature of their shows, they'd have a lot more diverse characterization to work with. like some of these designs for my show.
you wouldn't be able to accidentally mix up these characters for one another as you could with human characters. you can go completely alien with an animal and STILL take it further by hybridising it with a human or other, whereas with humans, you can take it alien but if you try hybridising, it will often look weird, and that's generally not good for characters that play large roles. but for anthros, their flexibility in design is such prime real estate that animation directors aren't taking advantage of.
i guess that's my reason. it's as much of a reason as recent indie animators creating black casts because the majority of animation shows have all white casts. idk.
Furries are also missing out on this, too. they have such opportunity for good designs, but they choose to focus on colour rather than overall silhouettes, meaning you have a huge amount of colour vomit but nothing that actually makes your character significant.

You guys realize that the furry community is actually really small, right? There are probably more Star Trek LARPers out there than people who consider themselves even remotely furry. This means we have a smaller pool of people from which to pick skilled artists from. It's the same reason the countries with the largest populations always get the most medals in the olympics. The bigger the pool of potential athletes to pick from, the more gold-medal winners you're going to find.
It also means we have less resources going into that community. Real animation projects or comic books or websites cost money to make. And furries have this irrational hate-boner over community driven fund-drives like patreon and kickstarter. This means that most artists have to work on their stuff part time. It takes longer, it's less professional, it's less polished than it otherwise might be. Be grateful we have things like the stuff posted in this thread at all.
