Art is mainly about improving your fundamentals (form, anatomy, perspective, proportion, composition, gesture). Not only by practicing it, but by applying it into work that you like. If you're strong with your fundamentals, then you'll know how to paint automatically.
People might not be good at art, but the only way to improve art is to continue making art, not fantasizing or giving up. No matter how bad or good it may be.
No one is truly a master, and that's perfectly okay, because at the end of the day, they're seeking to improve a skill that they're weak at.
