>Draw a variety of things in a variety of styles for fun
>Hit on a specific formula that seems popular
>Draw a few commissions in that style
>Popularity explodes
>Hundreds of commissions
>Simplify and codify that style to ease the workload
>Start raking in the cash
>Everyone that sees your work wants a commission in that EXACT same style, with that EXACT same specific type of content/fetish/kink
>Say they'd commission a different artist if they wanted something different
>Any attempt to do something else results in it being panned and of course you make no money
>Vicious cycle begins
>Pretty soon every commission starts to look the same because that's what everyone wants
>You become known for only that one kind of drawing style or fetish
>Few months to a year pass
>Specific flavor-of-the-year artstyle begins to fall out of popularity
>Everyone starts accusing you of drawing the same shit every picture, of "sameface", of tracing/copying your own previous drawings or re-using poses
>Popularity declines, commissions dry up, have to go back to real job
>Any attempt to start with a new style leads to everyone fingerpointing at your old art and how you draw the same shit every picture, have "sameface", and traced/copied your own previous drawings and re-used poses
>They encourage the newbies to blackball you because you'll just start the same shit again if they give you any commissions
>Never draw for furries again
In other words, it's your fault, guys.
