 No.4243

I've been doing a lot of research for a new laptop. The laptop will be primarily for general use, although also intensive tasks such as photo/video editing. I don't game a lot, but it would be nice to secure that capability. I've been torn between the Asus G752 and the 751, because although the G752 has the new Skylake processor and DDR4 technology, I'm not sure if I like the design too much; it looks too flashy and not as subtle as the G751.

The specs on the models I am looking at are:

G752: i7 6700HQ, 1TB + 256 SSD, 970M + Graphics Coprocesser, 24GB DDR4

G751: i7 4720HQ, 2TB + 1TB SSD, 970M, Bluray-RW + Bluetooth

32GB DDR3, 8.4 lbs

Both are around the same price of ~$1800. I'm also unsure whether the 980M is worth it; I would have to pay more for that to get it for the g752, but it is ~$1600 in the G752 in exchange for less hard drive space.

So, my main questions are: Is the design of the Asus G752 something to worry about? Are the problems that the G752 fixes worth using it over the G751 anyway? Will I kick myself in the future for not grabbing DDR4 + Skylake i7? Is there something else you think I should get? I have looked at MSI, but I prefer the Asus keyboard much more.
