TL;DR: it's not so much a "DiGRA plot" as it is a single DiGRA Australia board member (Brendan Keogh) and his partnership with Dan Golding in a games-critique outift. Golding's "The End of Gamers" was not an academic work let alone a DiGRA work, but Keogh's circle of friends included the people who pitched it as such in various "Gamers Are Dead" articles.
