All of these images include "white" somewhere (white background)

Stock photo sites use "Afro/African American" for black people and "Caucasian" for white people, so American + White = (African) American on a white background. They never use "white" for white people or "black" for black people.

So, because of the way that stock photo sites word their image descriptions:

white = white background, completely unrelated to the person

black = black background, completely unrelated to the person

Afro American/African American = Black person

Caucasian = White person

"American" is really likely to give you "African American"
