after /gamergate/ fell because of Mod retardation, two boards were made in the chaos to quickly rebuild and get going further; /gghq/ and /ggrevolt/. HQ (the board we are now using) just wanted to go on the same way /gg/ and /gamergate/ worked, but /revolt/ also wanted other operations to get going, including more anonimity and downfall of e-celebs like Sargon, MundaneMatt and Ralph.
They didn't get what they wanted and became resentful, and started to blame e-celebs for shit. This is stupid for many reasons, but I will just name the top 3:
1) e-celebs will get nowhere anyways. Except for Milo, Sommers and perhaps Sargon to a very small extent, no e-celeb is big in real life. Being e-celeb does not give power or authority or anything like that, especially not in real life. Given GG's reputation, it will possibly only backfire. Seriously, who cares about e-celebs? Except for motivating people and distributing info they're basically useless. I like the anonymous work-together stuff more and especially the small groups of people who undertake operations on their own. Here in the Netherlands we have almost a dozen small groups, mostly made out of gamedev students and IT professionals. They're quite effective in tracking down info. You don't hear about them as often as e-celebs, but they're just as - if not more - useful.
2) it diverts attention from what is really important.
3) it makes people go into divide and conquer games, which is what killed Occupy back in the day.
That is not to say I don't have things to criticize GGHQ about; I find it (in comparison to KiA) to have more discussion and shitposting and less actual work.I can't remember the last time I saw a stickied digging thread here. Those were fun back in the day.
