It would make sense. Link was a roughly 9 year old boy in OOT, IMO anyone who thinks Link is a girl has some underlying pedo fetish. Prepubescent fascination, even in OOT as soon as Link jumped through time it was obvious that he is a male. To confuse link for Zelda tells me that the person has a fascination with the kid part of the game. Zelda was always the person in power, If anything it is a representation that the hero is some UN-identifyable entity that saves the day but gets no recognition due to the person in power being confused with the exploits of the true hero.
