Legal representatives protect someone's legal rights and makes sure that any proceeding or negotiation occurs in a lawful manner. Whether or not this person is a pedophile is irrelevant.
Shitter is not protecting someone's rights here nor are they a legal representative, hue. What they're doing is sheltering a known/suspected pedophile from public scrutiny, which I don't think is illegal, but still a dick move.
The motive for this can be as simple as being friends with some guy at Twitter or just being labeled an SJW and thus protected by other SJWs.

Considering what role Twitter played in the Arab Spring uprising? It seems to me that Twitter is being a fucking hypocrite for protecting a single person from public scrutiny who is accused of being a pedophile.
Whether they're a pedophile or not is not relevant. What is relevant is that Twitter controls not just information flow, but a public debate for multiple huge groups of people on both sides of the debate. And if Twitter decides what messages get transmitted to everyone? You're literally silencing one end of a debate for your own benefit. Say what you will about twitter not being a political platform, but Gamergate is actively using twitter to steer/inject new information into a sort of global hivemind. Control information and you can subvert a revolt and prevent new member recruitment.
