The biggest issue with Voat is that for all the urge it had to replace reddit, it simply does not have the infrastructure to do it. Anytime there's a traffic spike the whole thing dies and people stop caring about it except those who are super pissed at reddit but want to maintain that kind of format. If it's improved in the past two months with the userbase it has then I'll be happy to admit that I'm wrong. I just don't get much from it at this point because every time I wanted to go to it, I couldn't.

KIA's been all over the place. They were super tight with what could be posted, then super loose, and they changed the way certain mechanics worked for voting. If you're just looking for a fairly central hub that mixes anti-SJW sentiments with a strong focus of bad journalism, especially in anything related to video games or "GamerGate" as a subject, then it's an easy place to go. It's become a kind of alternative hub from the rest of Reddit and that's not all bad as long as it keeps its roots with vidya which still seem firmly ingrained.
