Were you guys even around /gamergate/ last December? When that board started tanking hard and slowing down? Back then people thought the gates were closing. Hell back then only around 100 pph was slow and people were panicking.

During the Winter break we lost so many OG anons, both on 8chan and twitter in this fight. We're now approaching another Winter siege and I've said it before on this board but that is likely when GG will die on 8chan. The GG boards have been steadily losing numbers since November and that bleeding has never slowed, only sped up in some instances (like when /gamergate burned). Both HQ and revolt this week tanked after the drama despite both rising from it too (Revolt got real high up thanks to Alison Prime, yet now it's the lowest it's been in a while) and same with GGHQ, after the board war drama GGHQ rose but fell hard. /gamergate/ is likely dead in the water like all the other dead gamergate boards on here.

It was a long time coming, users like me who hung around these GG boards since the beginning knew that the boards couldn't sustain themselves forever, as gamergate is an internet controversy and thus it's activity fluctuates. Yet for boards to survive the topic needs to be steady and constant, which does not happen in GG: it varies all over the place, to slow days to major fast happenings in a blink of an eye. Sooner or later this will take a toll on the boards and we are seeing it now along with other things.

You can pass the blame game all you want, to Bladeee+/gamergate/ burning down and starting a downward trend, to the drama surrounding Acid Man, gghq and ggrevolt, but it doesn't change that this was inevitable and you could see it coming a mile away.

So get ready for another GamerGate winter, which will likely be worse then the last. Expect things to really slow down and expect the GG boards overall to be dead. The Second Winter will be a tough one and derailers will likely come out of the woodwork like they did last year.

Interestingly, the Christmas Stalingrad doesn't seem to be hitting us as hard as last year. We're mid-december now, and we started tanking at Thanksgiving last time around.

Anons on /v/ talked about this coming, and one outcome listed was that #GG has deflated down to its critical mass of core participants and wouldn't dip much lower even in the holidays. We've hit equilibrium. And it seems knock on wood that this is what is happening.

That's because the happeningfags burned out quickly last time.

Right now, after a year those that are still on this ride are in for the long-haul and holding out, so it won't teeter off nearly as bad as before. But we were already dying through the Summer in a lot of GG fronts so this will continue through the winter.

GG right now, and has been for a while, no matter what "faction", whether Twitter, KiA, v, HQ, revolt, or IRC, will "contract" and be filled with "core" people who are likely going to ride this out to the end.

My only criticism of GamerGate (and myself since I am still guilty of this to this day) were that in some areas we got too smug, too arrogant, and too complacent.

But oh well. Despite that, I'm still far too smug after this year. No matter if the boards die, here's to more smug to come.
