In 2008, McCain and Clinton had videogame censorship as part of their platform, while Obama didn't. The logical choice was to support Obama. I think part of the appeal of Trump, especially among moderates, is that he's a shit stirrer for better or worse and America desperately needs someone to shake things up.

The fact that America's political left has had power for as long as it has is part of the reason. That we as a society can not allow one side to have total power and we need to alternate every decade. Obama's had his time and the next President needs to be conservative to bring balance to the force, much like Obama bringing balance after eight years of W.

The irony, is that if the GOP would embrace gay marriage, abortion, and Obamacare, they'd be more or less able to win easily in 2020. But in the same way the GOP will be arguing "You have to vote Republican or they'll take your guns and God away!", Dems will be screaming "you have to vote Democrat or they'll take your Obamacare and right to gay marry and abort your unborn baby away!" to make liberals vote for them.

Already, you can see there being a movement to force a vote for Hillary, if Bernie loses, under the ground that she's "the lesser evil".

If the GOP gave on those three issues, they'd be set for future generations. Immigration and trannies can go fuck themselves. Embracing Obamacare, abortion, and gay marriage would eliminate the three wedge issues the left has to force people who'd norrmally vote Republican, to vote Democrat.

My argument is the equivalent of saying that the NRA should be directly involved in politics because many politicians and media are against what they stand for.

The NRA doesn't have to take part in every right wing issue, but they need to understand that it is the modern left standing against them and act accordingly.

Pro-life advocates don't have to take part in every right wing issue, but they need to understand that it is the modern left standing against them.

For the most part, these groups and others *are* already heavily involved in politics and they know what they're up against, and they've known for a long time. Gamergate attracted a lot of people who don't typically get involved in politics and don't understand the enemy they are facing. This is easily confirmed by all the people who for so long said things like "We need to e-mail media sources and tell them the real story so that they'll know the truth and report the facts!" These people didn't realize that the media never had any intention of reporting the facts to begin with.

Gamergate members (like the NRA, like pro-life groups, like any other group under any heavy scrutiny from the left) doesn't have to take up every single issue in politics to take a stand against the political group who is actively against them. And I am talking about individual members here, before some autist comes out and accuses me of leaderfagging. If all you want to do is talk vidya, go contribute to or start a thread about vidya. But those wanting to look at the bigger picture might see Trump's situation being of high interest considering his conflict with leftist media and simply not giving a shit about buzz words that in the past have ended careers. Trump is causing people who have been reduced to sniveling cowards when called a "racist" or a "misogynist" or a "xenophobe" to stand up against this bullshit. Or maybe it's the other way around, that people's unwillingness to stand up for it any more has made way for a guy like Trump to gain ground.
