The thing is -and I know how buttmad this gets some GG supporters- this happened as a reaction. It was rage building up for years. The Five Guys scandal and their attempts to silence it got us riled up, angry, talking, forming groups. We were all at attention when the "Gamers are Dead" articles dropped.
We had clear goals and enemies. We won at everything we wanted to do. We made Gawker bleed. Weakened the monster enough for their interns to come in and tear out another wound on the side. We basically pinned it's arms for Hulk Hogan to come in and body slam them.
All the rats fled because the ships they were respectively dragging down weren't progressive *enough*. That's the problem with these people, it's never enough. Leigh was fired from Gawker, Patrick Klepik left GiantBomb apparently because Jeff saying we shouldn't be allowed to talk wasn't enough for him. That tranny got fired from GameSpot, and MovieBob, Jim Sterling and Extra Credits all took a hike from The Escapist.
Eventually Gawker was forced to fire a bunch of people as well.
We raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity, we brought SJW straight into the public consciousness, we laid bare precisely how corrupt the media was and showed all the places that can't be trusted, because we knew for certain every single hit piece ran on GamerGate was written willfully lying.
Cracked is circling the drain as their numbers took a massive dive, to the point that they're putting out passive-aggressive apology articles now explaining their retarded positions.
Anita Sarkeesian alienated herself even from the majority of feminists. Joss Whedon was torn to shreds by his feminist followers, left Marvel and went to work on some dinky comic book no doubt featuring another flat female mary sue protagonist.
Collectively, so many not on the left thought twitter was incredibly, painfully stupid. People who hated it created twitter accounts to join the conversation, myself among them. Now every time they post some idiotic drivvel they have to contend with thousands of people leaping out to tear their lies apart in a clever and humorous fashion. They can't hit the block button fast enough. They had to resort to unwieldy block lists unable to deal with their world view being shattered in front of them.
They managed to make the Congress, Google, Twitter, and the freaking UN look completely useless, ignorant and uninformed and a total joke. Thousands of idiotic progressives (meaning basically all of them) through countless dollars at obvious scams, through Patreon, CON, and Psychonauts 2 among countless others just in time to leave their wallets hurting come the election fundraiser season.
The reason we were so successful in the beginning, quite honestly was a combination of numbers and autism. TotalBiscuit, IA, Sargon, MundaneMatt and a few others could all say "Go do thing!" and suddenly a charity has 100k. Suddenly hundreds of thousands of e-mails are pouring into sponsors.
The same people who have ruined every web community for over a decade crawled out from SA and set their sights on us. We stuck together for over a year of divide and conquer tactics, but one by one each voice was forced to distance themselves from us one way or another. All our goals achieved, those same SJWs managed to get us squabbling with eachother over artificial differences they sought to create as a wedge between us. Enthusiasm died.
We all still believe what we believed then. Let us be their bogeyman. We're all still going to be there every time they do something stupid. We'll all still make videos about it, we'll still let them have it on twitter, we'll still "redpill" the comments of every youtube video, alter poll results to reflect reality and keep shitty videos disabling their ratings and comments out of fear and spite.
They'll fuck up again. A new controversy of this scale will occur, all the same players will be there, we'll have learned lessons from this go round, simultaneously more and less organized. We won't need a name. There will be ten times as many of us, and they'll accuse us all of being from GamerGate and look insane for even saying it.
They'll be right about some of us, though.
