36bcdb No.312652

Hi there GamerGate!

I'm not sure if you remember me? I'm the webcomic writer that lost my featured account along with all my ad revenue, because of some other SJW creators disliking my content for not being PR friendly.

It is now one year later. The website that had me kicked out went bankrupt and closed down, the woman that caused it all has apologized to me, Tapastic offered me a great deal with ad revenue, and thanks to GamerGate I got 2nd place in a big webcomic competition, giving me 1,500 Dollars to fund my little indie project Magnolia Online.

I've since then been outspoken as a GamerGate supporter on all of my accounts, since unlike my old website, Tapastic do not care what affiliations I have outside of webcomic creation.

Everything went really well for me back then, all thanks to you guys. Unfortunately my winning spot in the competition was taken from me, due to another webcomic getting more votes than myself. This year, that webcomic is not present on the website, so I would like to take the chance and try to win this year.

I can't claim to be any sort of victim, really, I'm doing just fine for myself, and I am very grateful to you all. If you do not want to vote for me in this competition, I completely understand, feel free to tell me to fuck off, or just ignore my thread.

But if you do want to help me out a little, I'd very much appreciate it, and will make a big shout out to GamerGate on my comic page like last year, as thanks for the help.

Link to my weeaboo webcomic: http://tapastic.com/episode/36518

Link to the contest: http://gmimanga.com/#/gmi-awards

All you really need to do is register with an email, and then vote for Magnolia Online. Thank you for reading!

I remember you. Glad you were able to pull through.

>the woman that caused it all has apologized to me

How did that happen? I'm surprised.

I imagine she didn't want the bad reputation, especially during the gamergate controversy. Webcomic projects can be kind of tough with who they work with. There's not a lot of money in it, so people who are involved in lots of drama and aren't hot girls, tend to be glossed over and rejected pretty fast.

One of the things a lot of the comic publishers look for when it comes to original projects, is stability, and having accusations raised towards you is considered bad no matter what.

She's not so bad when not trying to pick on me, or act like she's better than me. I think the experience changed her view a lot.

ac231a No.312656

It's good to hear that events turned out well for you. This might inspire others to be unafraid to speak their minds.

Have you considered putting a banner up on Top Web Comics and asking your fans to vote you up? You might get a few more readers that way.

c11e09 No.312665

hey tnx for taking the time to give us un update on it. You are hereby permitted to shill your webcomic :p

I so decree it. jokes aside I never heard about this one, will read a bit of the webcomic when I get home

I was going to vote for your chinese cartoon even though I dont understand them myself.

But it seems like I have to log in or something to do it.

Its the thought that counts right?

I have considered it, but do many people still visit that site? Being a modern webcomic creator, it's kinda like walking through old desert ruins, trying to find oasis's, and Top Web Comics looks like something that could be a great city in the distance, but might just be another ruin of a former great place.

If you get what I mean?

>>312665

Thank you! I'd very much appreciate it if you did take a look, and if you like it, please vote for me.

>>312670

Well, you could always just use a throwaway email. Just google "throwaway email". That makes it a bit easier to register.

Well in my defense, the reason the other artist won is because she got her brothers to drive around to different libraries and PC stores and vote on all the computers. Wasn't against the rules at the time, though.

But I didn't mean that it was my winning spot after she won, simply that it was taken from me, like I'd have taken it from her, if I had won.

Webcomic Senpai replied my post now i can die happy,do you happen to have the artwork that won you second place?

Are you thinking of participating in any future art competitions from now?

If i had 1500 dollaroos i would spend it on vidya, porn and junk food at least you used yours to kickstart your project.

It's little victories like yours that makes it all worth while that some random faggots on an imageboard were able to help another faggot do what he loves doing.

Its cheesy as fuck but makes me all squishy inside.

36bcdb No.312826

>>312818

You seem like a pretty nice guy. I have the webcomic that won 2nd place last year, it's Magnolia Online, the one in the main post.

I'd love to participate in all comic competitions that happen, but very few of them allow me to enter ongoing comics, and it's not always I'll have time or resources to get a oneshot going.

Unfortunately I'm a bit afraid that I might lose this time too. The other guy seems to attract a lot of votes, too. But no matter what, 1,500 Dollars is a lot too!

Is it possible to have someone sign up and submit your comic on your behalf?

It seems really weird there's 5 with no votes and so few votes on any but yours and Appleblack.

Like damn, not even voting for yourself? Or asking your mom to? Triple-plus weird.

36bcdb No.313301

>>313295

Can't really speak for any of the other artists, but you get automatically accepted into the annual competition if you have enough pages for it. Because of this, several of the comics you see were added by the admin who then let the creator know they've been picked for the GMI award, but very few of them really try.

The only ones that really give it a genuine go are the ones in the top 4 or 5 who have enough readers to affect the votes. While you can get family and friends to vote for you, you aren't really going to get anywhere, without a bunch of dedicated readers. So I assume they just don't bother.
