Intel is over, they already said Skylake will be the fastest CPUs they ever make, and everything after that will be slower.

It's just going to make it easier for the big names to win though, because they will cram in people who shouldn't be there because the lack the skill. And then they will complain that the winners aren't as diverse as the contestants. And that would normally be where they start giving awards to people who don't deserve it but have the right diversity check marks. But you can't do that with video games when you win on merit. This isn't some indiecade or IGF "we'll give you an award to help your game we invested in" type of thing. You have the lower score, you lose. So I don't know what their long term game plan is.

So they are pretty much desperate for any line to bring up profits before their share price tanks.

Right now Intel more or less owns a saturated shrinking market and is in a death grip with AMD over this dying market.

This means the only way to increase their profits is marketing marketing marketing and if you have ever met such people they the disgusting positivy++ feelgood posers you see in movies.

So naturally they will jump on any progressive movement thinking they can "synergise" with it and increase PR.

Of course it will tank, they don't get thier own market or customers. Intel smashed AMD with superior processors, not with this garbage.
