But Yaoi and/or Fujoshi pandering works (which have an audience largely made of straight women) objectify men just as bad (or worse) as the porn or other works directed at straight men do so for women.

I really don't get the objectification thing. We're all humans, and our sex drives and relations to other people are driven by empathy and trying to understand each other. That's why men and women are constantly talking about how the other half is insane, we actively want to solve this riddle and we get frustrated by it. Not to mention, porn like rape, incest and BDSM, the most likely to be called objectifying, just plain don't work without the human element, there's no violation in using an onahole without lubing it first, or fucking it with a dildo of the same brand. It requires people, not objects.

It only makes sense if these people are psychotic, and given that affirmative consent is based on a grooming strategy(People are primed to say yes and having to refuse wears down their resistance), it seems worrying likely that may be the case.

Yeah, the quick and dirty is that I'm the subject of my own experiences, everyone else is an object, from my perspective. Especially in narrative construction, every character is an object and any humanising is an illusion to make them a better tool. And the larger the cast, the more likely a part is to be strictly functional, "passerby 3" or "prostitute 7", for example.

Of course, when it's hard to present female characters as interesting and flawed people for fear of backlash, they tend to be blander and more object-like.
