/girltalk/ is a board by girls, for girls! Board moderation is pretty lax and anything can be discussed here. Guys are welcome to post here as well!

Rules:

1. Please abide by the global rule. (See http://8ch.net/faq.html for more information)

2. /girltalk/ is a sfw board. Any kind of discussion is allowed, but please refrain from posting nsfw images.

The choice to make the board sfw was made because /fem/ is already mostly used for sex talk. Hopefully by making the board sfw, we'll get a bigger variety of topics. This is open for debate, though. Feel free to discuss this and anything else in this thread. c:

This thread is open for any kind of meta discussion.

Additions from the fabulous new Owner below.

3. No useless flaming shitposts that add nothing to the discussion and serve only to make people angry or sad.

4. Excessive harassment of individual users is not allowed. If someone asks you to lay off, you need to do so. This overlaps with the rule above it, and posts will only be deleted if they aren't of value.

Oh, yeah, and here's a link to the board log if you want to see the hilarious messages I attach to bans I issue based on this third rule.

I suppose you're right. To an extent. I just don't understand why a woman would want to be strong-it doesn't make them any more feminine-just slightly more attractive..?

I'm sick of women using people. I hate how nonchalant they are about it too, so entitled. I see it all the time. Everyone is so two-faced. At least with men it is obvious.

dude it's obvious with women too, if you aren't full autistic at least. I know it's bait but just look ceo's of big companies or other high ranking positions. Everyone who as a little social awareness and some kind of high career goals which require to network or has above average ambitions for sucess, turns somehow two faced, manipulating or goes over bodies at worst in order to achieve what he/she wants.

Quiet, with only really one or two friends.

>>3632

>like any kids'?

>are you a pedo?

I'm fairly certain they meant stuff like being the tall kid or something of the like.

For example, I've always been pretty short and below average height and never had acne.

Stuff like that.

06e8a7 No.3767

My childhood consisted of musical theatre, dancing, and pageants. It was amazing and fun. It started going downhill in my later teens. I quit everything and gave up.

I lost my virginity around 16. I don't regret the time I lost it, because I was ready. I do, however, regret who I lost it to. This guy named Frankie. Yeah. I should've known. He fucked my life up. He was cheating on me the entire time with this girl who he claimed was like his sister. She lived close to him so was around him more than I was. It was like everyone knew but me. "I just… Didn't want to hurt you." "I didn't know how to tell you" my supposed friends said. I stopped talking to everyone and my outgoing, confident self changed.

a6fbfc No.3804

i was always kind of quiet, as in i would rather read a book than talk to people, but i used to be a lot more outgoing when i was a kid.

i used to like playing football and martial arts etc.

i was always slightly tall for my age, and i was generally strong for my age. because of this, i never lost any fights.

though i never got in serious fights, i had a temper.

as i grew up and the boys my age got stronger, my martial arts practice ensured that i never lost.

ive always been proud of that.

i went to an all girls secondary school, and couldn't interact much with the girls in my class :/

we just didnt have anything in common

later on i found some people more like me in another class, so i made friends, but i was much more shy and introverted than i was in primary school.

got my first boyfriend at 16 and lost my v-card soon after (completely intentionally)

Everyone was surprised, which was pretty funny

i was the last person anyone expected to get a boyfriend

i was never the boy crazy type, but i loved him.

we lasted 4 years, after which he cheated :/

it was good while it lasted though

since then, i've gotten better at talking to people and ive stopped practicing martial arts (though i'd like to start again)

i think i've also become a lot girlier, which i like.

35e7c1 No.3807

I didn't "realize" I was a girl until I was 16, which sounds really stupid but it's true. In second grade we all gave ourselves little nicknames and the one I made for myself was "Mr. Man" so obviously I had some issues around gender. When I was 15 I found 4chan and have spent the susequent 10 years of my life on imageboards.

>personality

I was pretty much the quintissential "lol so randum xD *holds up spork*" kid. Very early on, age 8, I could tell I was an outsider. I took the class clown approach to dealing with it. I knew people were going to laugh at me anyway and think of me as weird anyway, so if I was being funny and weird on purpose it wasn't going to hurt me. Not that I knew all of that back then but looking back that's clearly what I was doing. I was also pretty tomboyish, which seems to just be a regular trait of mine, not a defense mechanism. I had a tendency to hurt peoples' feelings by accident, I was always saying stuff that I didn't realize was mean and making people cry. Now as an adult I am very low key and very careful with how I talk and it's because of that.

>body

Always been a pretty small and thin person.

>social life

Hung out with boys and girls pretty equally. As I got older I became more subdued and less likely to hang out, mid high school was isolating myself alot and mostly just hung out with my best friends, but cancelled on them alot.

>Any boys and dating or they were too obnoxious and boring? when did you lose your v-card and was it intentional or spontaneous?

Intentionally, at age 17 or 18 with my boyfriend, who was my first boyfriend. To be honest, around that time in my life I was trying hard to be a normie, which is why I even had a boyfriend. I figured I should try having sex. For me I equated my "weirdness" with immaturity, I thought that if I forced myself to grow up and act like an adult I would be normal. So I got a bf, we had sex…It was painful and boring. It hurt me to the point of tears, but because I was in "experimentation mode" Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

>So creepy to see children at like 8 or 9 doing this

My childhood friend and I did creepy things too. we would murder our barbies, make them have orgies, or even worse stuff, without knowing what it exactly was. I don't know, we complemented us so well, although our backrounds were the polar opposite, since she grew up alone with her single mother, who didn't give a crap about her and I basically grew up in a overprotective, conservative christian household. Our favourite topics at the age of 9 to 11 were basically medieval torture methods, the black death, witch craft and stuff like this. It didn't seem abnormal then, we were sincerily fascinated with it. Why I was kind of shy and head-heavy, she was outgoing and charismatic and had more friends then I at the end of elementary school. Our later lifes turned out to be the polar opposites as well. While I'm studying now and aiming to have an academical career, she became a mom in early highschool and is now 3 years behind me, still in school. even if my christian upbringing has left some deep mental issues, I feel very sad for her, since she is actually one of the most intelligent people I know and actually a very well meaning kind of girl, but might be underestimated for the rest of her life.

Why are shy, introverted and socially awkward men so reviled when it comes to even basic social interaction with women? I know you don't want to fuck men like this, but the distaste/hatred such men receive is off-putting to me, and quite frankly just mean and cruel.

You call us creeps, you will make fun of how we're off-kilter socially even when we're going out of our way and trying to improve. We're a veritable punchline.

I see this even more among the tumblr crowd (the people who pertain to care about everyone, and often make it known they have such problems themselves) and elsewhere online than regular women in real life.

What gives? It's not my fault I'm an only child raised by a single mom in a small village where I didn't know anybody.

I'm 23 and I still have to take pills just to be relaxed enough to have simple conversations with people. I haven't had sex.

I try to go out of my way to be better at this and you mention how I look away and don't make as much eye contact as you demand, you'll say something and I wont know what to say back.

It's almost as if you enjoy ridiculing guys like me.

(I know some of you will be all "oh I love shy guys!", but very few will be willing to put in the effort to get to know a shy guy. It reminds me of women telling 5"4 guys that women will find them attractive as long as they're "confident")

the hate you are talking about has it roots on boards like 4chan. >>3802

I agree with you. Although it was worded a little rough. You must remember though body type is the most important part of fashion, so their desire to change their appearance is understandable. Some outfits look better on thin, tall, flat, or well endowed girls. But lets be realistic ladies. The fashion industry caters to skinny women, so be proud of your nonexistent melons. Skinny girls have a much larger variety of outfits to choose from, and these outfits will never look good on heavy women. Time to show you skinny gals what you should be wearing. Padded dresses and shirts. Deception is key to beauty. Also since you guys have no boobies you can get away with no bra outfits like my second dress. That is the back, obviously. It's one of my favorites.

>>2155

Love this dress. I really do. Should be cut at knee though. You can't show off the heels, you know.

I think it's because they're pretty tom-boyish. Shorts and t-shirts on girls is really cute.

I remember freaking out when my first gf first hung out with me in her loose PE t shirt. She thought it looked horrible, but I doted on her like crazy.

What's your current goal(s) and how are you working towards them?

1. getting more muscle since I feel sexier when I'm toned (defined stomach and arms).
working out daily and eating nutritious food

2. learning another language so I can understand more people/information and for ease of travel.
using a phone app and watching a show in that language
this one I just started so hopefully I don't get discouraged…

3. learn more about art and history
watching documentaries and reading

>get back into reading

i always read a lot growing up, but after a bad depression last year or the year before i fell out of the habit. i've just dusted off my kindle and put some books on it as i think that reading from something small and light might be the first step to titrating up onto real books.

Very important question that's come up for me recently.

Is arm hair attractive, unattractive, or neither?

How do you feel about it? Do you prefer shaven arms, hairy arms, or are you fine either way? Have you had a consistent opinion on this all your life? Or has it ever changed? If so, when and why?

Light arm hair on girls is kind of cute.

I have to know because one of my chick friends told me it was gross, and I have an above average amount of arm hair. I personally don't like it, but removing it is hell.

>>3897

Agreed, especially if it's light blonde peach fuzz.

I duno, I kind of like darker hair too so long as it isn't gorilla-tier thick. It reminds me that grills are animals too, and that's pretty cute. I like nuzzling it when they're slightly self conscious about it and we're already intimate. I'm over-the-top affectionate about lots of small details, though, typically. Meh.

I like arm hair but it doesn't make someone attractive to me, so neither.

I do really love chest hair though

Well, I shave my chest, and I don't plan to stop that.

any other girltalkers into philosophy or literary/cinematic theory? the first i've enjoyed for years but still wouldn't consider myself knowledgeable, the latter i'm just getting into because of deleuze's "cinema" books.

if you want to get into philosophy, i'd recommend you the stanford philosophy encyclopedia. don't worry, it's not some pricey tome - it's a website. http://plato.stanford.edu/

I did take ancient philosophy as an elective class once, and I really enjoyed the class, but I can't bring myself to really study it outside of a classroom setting. There are just too many other hobbies I would like to spend my time on, most of which aren't academic at all. What is cinematic theory?

0e80c1 No.2182

>>2181

ah, i should've phrased things better - the theory of film, such as of analysis, purpose, societal effect, and all kinds of meta-film. a bit like semiotics. basically literary theory for films.

Philosophy's pretty cool.

Bumping this thread to ask who /girltalk/ posters' favorite philosophers are.

78f8cc No.3929

my favourite philosophcial work is probably Nietzsche's "Also sprach Zarathustra" and his originial definition of the übermensch. trying to improve myself constantly and setting high goals is how I chose to live. I disagree with many other points in his thesis though.
