CONDUCT GUIDE

At this stage of the game, there are not going to be many people out of the loop about what is really going on, though there still may be. So, it is important to keep the emails short and to the point. What we want to convey is that we are no longing supporting the sites they advertise on, why we are not doing it, and what the consequences for them advertising on the site (if any) are. With that in mind, the following are some easy steps to craft emails:

Here is an example (do not copy and paste this):

To [Company X],I am a lifelong gamer and I wish to bring to your attention that I no longer support [Website Y] in which you advertise. The reason I do not support this site is due to their conduct of labelling gamers as [Example Z].This type of behavior is unacceptable to myself and many others who have been slandered for years for enjoying our hobby.Unfortunately, on principle alone, I can no longer purchase your products as long as you associate with [Website Y].I hope you understand my position and reconsider yours.Sincerely,Anon

Another example (again, do not copy and paste this):

Dear [Company X],Until recently, I have been enjoying your [Product X] and I am writing you because I am concerned that you are advertising on [Website Y], whose journalists do not adhere to basic journalistic standards. For example, [Journalist A] refers to gamers as "misogynerds," as seen in this archived tweet: [insert link here].As someone who hates both women and men equally, in addition to being extremely un-nerdy, I find the term "misogynerd" extremely offensive. Therefore, I am withdrawing any support to [Website Y] and refusing to purchase products by companies that support them. Thus, I will not be able to purchase your products and I am disappointed because the double-ended features really hit the spot.I felt that you should hear from a customer who would like to continue to purchase your product, but can not because my principles demand it.Thank you for your time,Anon
