As far as metal goes, funeral doom metal is also pretty fucking /grim/. The BO posted Nortt, who is kind of a crossover between funeral doom and DSBM. An Evoken is fine too.

Then there's shit like this - I call it "avant garde" black metal, because it's the kind of music that is definitely kvlt as fuck but not necessarily has the traditional musical characteristics of black metal. Stalaggh in particular is one of my favorites. Some might dismiss them as gimmicky, unlistenable trash, but they managed to do something really special for me: Even with as far has metal has gone towards being shocking and brutal, they managed to push those bounds ever so slightly farther for how extreme metal can be and even what we can consider music to be.

I like Blitzkrieg baby it isn't DSBM but it is /grim/ and depressing.

Surprised by the lack of Eyehategod. The feelings produced by these albums are defiantly some of the best depressed soundscapes ever produced in the metal genre.

The funny thing about music (for me) is that the saddest songs seem to be the most beautiful ones. Why is that, I wonder? Why can no happy, positive song bring up the same level of emotion? Is it because music mostly merely wakes up those feelings already dwelling inside of us?

Also is icelandic, latin, german, spanish and french music welcome here?

This always amazed me at how horrifying this song is to me.

It could have easily just been a dreary rock song but theres a perfect suicidal layer to it with 911 call in the background.
