 No.663

So last night at the horror movie stream, a few of us talked about running some tabletop games like Vampire: The Masquerade.

Since then I've added someone that's interested in joining.

If anyone else would be interested in joining and playing, I suppose this would be the thread to say so.

Newcomers or vets are welcome, I'm willing to take the time to help anyone who needs it.

 No.664

Bump, im in.

 No.667

So how does this work?

 No.668

So, if we really want to get this thing going, we're going to need a few things from people:

1. Anyone who is interested needs to actually stay involved and continue to post here.

2. Depending on how big we want this to be (obviously we can't have too many players, but maybe we could have multiple games with multiple GMs?), we should be getting the word out there. For /grim/ in general as well. /tg/ might be a good board to go tell this about because we could probably get people from there who are interested, maybe enough to have another game with another GM or something.

Unfortunately, I can't upload the player's handbook here because it's too big. I can upload what I have to MEGA but I'll have to do that later.

If you mean tabletop in general, it is, very basically, dice-rolling to complete challenges set against your characters.

Different systems use different dice-rolling mechanics, and this one is fairly simple once you get used to it.

Actually playing the game, we're likely going to use the site Roll20 for the game itself, and whatever chat program that we decide to use.

>>668

That won't be a problem on my end, as far as staying around the thread.

 No.675

I'd be willing to join, if you don't mind teaching.

 No.676

How are you guys planning to do this anyway? Maptool/roll20 and Skype? Tabletop simulator?

 No.677

>>676

Should've put this in the OP, so I'm retarded.

Going to be using Roll20 for the maps/dicerolling elements.

For those that would actually like to join in, add Grebyr on Steam. From there, we can discuss what kind of chat programs we'd like to use. I know some of us aren't really into the whole Skype thing, so we can work it out.

>Sidenote, we can stream this shit through Roll20 too, if that was desired.

I'm definitely down! Kind of a newbie, but I've read abit of the lore beforehand. The only thing is, I work like 30+ hours a week, however, if y'all can tell me 1) How often the games will be held be it bi-weekly, once a month, etc and 2) which designated day[s] out of the month/week the game will be held on ; I can request off those days and play

 No.681

>>679

Well, we should work that out here.

I'm in college, and Tuesdays I can't do due to commuting.

Fridays I'm working with my grandparents, but other than that I can basically swing for whatever days (preferably in the evening) that we really would like.

It's really up to others on how often we play. I'm fine with whenever.

>For those of you that DO use it, my Skype is gerbyr123. Look for the Ebola looking heart.

I suppose any questions can be either directed here or towards me on either platform, so ask if you have them.

 No.682

sounds like fun. i'm in, but I don't really know how to play.

 No.683

Guess I'll take a name for this. Preferably, I'd like to do something Monday morning (PST), Friday afternoon, or maybe Wednesday around 3 PM. I can probably manage weekends too, but I've got classes Tuesday and Thursday, and Friday mornings.

 No.685

>>682

Always willing to teach newcomers. Throw either the Skype or Steam a friend request, and we can discuss whatever you need to know.

 No.686

Is this sorta like D&D? I've always wanted to try D&D.

Is it gonna be on the board, or are we gonna use something like tabletopsimulator?

 No.687

>>686

It's a different dice-rolling system than D&D, as well as a different setting, but it's the same general idea.

Discussion for the game takes place here, the game itself is taking place on a website called Roll20. Free virtual tabletop, quick to pick up.

 No.690

What edition do you guys want to play? I can just download it and upload the pdf/extras on mediafire or something if you guys want.

 No.691

>>690

We're going to be using 20th Anniversary Edition. I have the Core Rulebook, but for others that don't have it, that'd be awesome.

File: 1446613059578.pdf (3.27 MB, V20_1-Page_Neonate_Interac….pdf)

Here you all are. In addition to the core rulebook, the .rar contains 6 other supplements.

https://www.mediafire.com/?skczqkaokxb36yw

Also, here's an interactive character sheet for shits n giggles.

 No.695

Quick update on the status of things. As of right now, I have four people involved in the Skype group chat we have going right now. The game is created in Roll20, and we just need to get everyone together to decide on times that would work for us all. From there, we can go into actual character generation and running through some short gameplay sessions to get everyone accustomed.

For any others wanting to be involved, add either Grebyr on Steam, and/or McGrebyr on Skype.

I'd like to reiterate that no prior experience is required, and anyone is welcome.

 No.697

Would anyone be interested in the game being streamed on twitch?

 No.698

>>697

What for? You run a show or something on twitch?

 No.699

hi /grim/

/death/ here

do you support the opening of embassies?

 No.719

>>717

Sure, why not.

 No.721

I'm in. I've read some of the core book for Masquerade, and have played NWoD before. I understand they're supposed to be vastly different, so any help in ironing out the discrepancies would be nice.

 No.735

Just a reminder that you guys should really be keeping people updated in this thread on the status of this thing so that passersby don't get the impression that this thing is ded.

 No.740

Are you guys still accepting newcomers or is the whole thing already in motion?

 No.743

i have no idea what's going on here but love the board concept

 No.744

>>740

Oldfag here (been here since you first shilled on /suicide/)

If they aren't accepting newcomers I can run a game, I just finished running one so I have time.

Otherwise I want to join in.

 No.745

>>744

Nice. Since they do have a ton of people playing, I don't think they can accept more. (wait for Grooby's announcement though) Me and a friend, however, are willing to join your game, so all that remains is to find a few people more. In any case our steam names are "Oraculum Abyssale" and "YOUR KING".

 No.753

>>745

Shit, I didn't see this updated.

We can wait for more people or we can just start running it and add anyone in who comes. The board is slow.

Is he announcing it only on steam or what?

I don't have a steam, but I guess I can make one. If you prefer another chat system though, I'd rather just skip straight to that. If you want to use steam, then we'll use it.

I just got out of a shitty scenario where it started with four people signed up for it, but only 2 would show up. Still worked out pretty good because I chose a system that ran multiple characters (think like a party/organization type).

 No.754

>>745

Also, forgot to add.

Running it partially on the board itself may not be a bad idea. Might help with board growth and getting new players to join in. Also, it kind of defeats the purpose of /tg/ on /grim/ if its all off site.

A chat of some kind I wouldn't rule out on the side though.

>Running it partially on the board itself may not be a bad idea. Might help with board growth and getting new players to join in. Also, it kind of defeats the purpose of /tg/ on /grim/ if its all off site.

Please someone do this. I didn't even know whether this thing was still going or not.

Use this thread for reference: >>>/cyber/7623

>>753

Grooby's group is full, you're more than clear to run your own.

 No.776

>>756

Alright, sorry for the late response.

But from here on out it will be on a schedule of some sorts. I run weekly and on schedule so don't worry about me flaking out from here on out.

I usually am used to playing games that run 9-10 weeks though. We'll see how it goes though, so lets just go with the flow.

Give me a week for a game/scenario. So I will post again on 12/18.

I will make a separate thread to begin the game.

Until then, in this thread all I really need to know is: who is interested (besides the two players who initially responded) and lets begin to talk about your preference for a game.

Please list your preferred side chat in addition to the thread, so we can have easier communication. I will probably just use IRC like the cyber thread mentioned.

Keeping in mind our small number of confirmed players as 2 for now, would you prefer a game system where you can play an organization/multiple people to make up for it for now? Or a single player?

Any requests for a specific game to be run?

Other then that, I have several ideas for a theme that will fit for /grim/.

I will make it new player friendly, because I'm sure not everyone on /grim/ is experienced with /tg/.

 No.778

>>776

King and Oraculum here. A steam group/chat is what we prefer, and as far as characters go, we both want a single character each. And, regarding the game type, all we need is something that offers variety when it comes to character creation.

 No.779

>>778

>>778

Small update on my previous post, Oraculum has been oddly inspired to control a second side character if, of course such a thing can be done.

Also, if the situation calls for it, we can both use Skype.
