Medicinal and Toxic

Is this a good place to have a discussion on the science of herbal medicine and other forms of plant-based biochemistry?

I have always been a fan of using herbs for various forms of low-dosage medication, but I'm horribly inexperienced. Currently my best herb mix for back pain involves tarragon, chamomile, and licorice root.

As a simple tisane for now, I've found that it provides a very proper recovery for lower back spasms and other muscular aches I have after an intense workout. I think the coolest part is that tarragon, aside from having a unique flavor, contains Benzodiazepines which are used to make drugs such as Diazepam (or Valium). I'm still doing a little more research on chamomile's active chemicals, but I do know that glycyrrhizic acid found in licorice root has positive effect on the liver. I usually add this as a "just in case" as plenty of medicinal chemicals put stress on the liver.

I'm also interested in learning all the dangerous shit people keep in their houses, like sago palm and holly berry.

So what about the rest of y'all?

Have you taken the brown pill yet, mateys?

it's a tough pill to swallow! The brown pill was founded in 1999 by Sir Reginald Brownpill, who presents and narrates the attached video.

Forget red and blue pills, brown pills are the way of the future.

Video related. Please leave your questions, comments, and concerns below about this radical new paradigm of thinking!f

Swallow the brown pill today! Red pills are for fedora fucking wearing faggots, blue pills are for the ignorant masses. Ignore the other le epin /pol/ maymays, this one is the readl deal.54845f

Please help.

Hi /grow/. I recently acquired a jiffy 10-day self-watering greenhouse. In it I have planted both sunflowers and bluebonnets. It has been five days since sowing and only one has sprouted so far. Is this normal or should I be concerned? Will the others eventually sprout? Pic related. Jiffy greenhouse.

Herbal

Herbal remedies thread? Cheaper than meds and better for you.

I'll start with Willow.
Cut up young stems into cup, add boiling water, put on lid and wait to cool.
It contains salicylic acid, which is not only a rooting hormone but the basis of aspirin. The tea can be used to root cuttings or relieve pain.
Enjoy!

Does raising kids count as growing organisms for fun and profit?

What do y'all know about dirt science? I've been toying with the idea of making a high-tech compost reactor to make high-tech dirt. (I'm an engineer, so I'm interested in shit like this).

Alright y'all; I've started a greenhouse at school and in the space of a couple weeks it's gone from the shed where the janitors kept their spare crap to this.

We're definitely going to grow carrots but I'd like advice on soil, what else to grow, where to get seeds, etc….

I intend to keep a barrel of water inside the greenhouse in order to feed the plants as a friend of mine has advised me that it will help to dissipate any chlorine or chemicals within the water.

As this board moves at an extremely slow pace I'll probably keep y'all updated weekly about the progress, even if this is just an empty board and I'm talking to myself.

Chilli Pepper glog

I decided to start a glog for a little project of mine. I am growing one cultivar of each of the five species of domesticated capsicum.
Chiltepin (annuum) the progenitor of the species and also by far the hottest and most flavourful.
Brazilian Starfish (baccatuum) not the hottest but by far the most interesting and one of the tastiest peppers around.
Dorset Naga (chinense) at one time the world record holder for hottest pepper. More heat, less chinense soap taste.
Tobasco (frutescens) neither the hottest nor most flavourful but one of few cultivars every one can agree is a true frutescens. Also juicy.
Ecuadorian red pepper from hell (pubescens) easily the hottest pube pepper and more interesting than a standard rocoto.

Sup /grow/

I'm a newbie marijuana grower and I feel kinda silly for asking but how do I feed my plant? I've recently purchased the fertilizers in the chart.

I'm wondering if I have to add the same amount of nutrients per litre of water for an individual plant or can I just add that as many additional litres of water because it will end up getting the same amount of nutrients or should I just feed the plant a couple of litres of water and throw the one litre of water mixed with nutrients at the roots?
